KOA Beach Pool Bar
KOA Beach Pool Bar is a bar in Gargalianoi Messenia Peloponnese Greece. The bar is a great place for lunch, dinner, some cocktails or something else to drink. You see the sunset every day from a relaxed place on the beach or one of the lounge areas. A dive in the pool is also possible. I made these images during our vacation on July 20, 2019.

My hometown of Gargalianoi, Greece
Here are some pics and videos of my hometown of Gargaliani, Greece. I had another video also but due to the song that I had put, it violated copyright laws so it was taken down by youtube. So i changed the video a little bit and put a hit song in 2000 from Nikos Kourkoulis called Tosa deilina. It has a good beat and for those who remember, this song was also featured in a Mythos beer commercial back in the day.
So again, here it is! My hometown of Gargaliani, Messinias. Pics and videos where taken by me in 2005, 2007 and 2008. Hope you enjoy.

Trip to Proti island of Messinia
A one day trip to Proti island. Unfortunately my gopro was out of battery after two hours of filming so I wasn't able to record more of the island's beauty.
Some info about the place:
Proti Island of Messenia (Πρώτη Μεσσηνίας) is an island in the Ionian Sea, on the west coast of the Peloponnese; it is counted as one of the Ionian Islands, though administratively, it is part of the municipality of Gargalianoi, in the regional unit of Messenia. The 2001 census reported a population of four inhabitants.
The name of the island derives from the ancient sea god Proteus, son of Poseidon. The island was mentioned by ancient writers. The first reference of the island was in the history of Thukydides who refers that in 426 B.C. the Athenian fleet sailed around this island. Proti has archaeological interest, since on the island, there is a Mycenaean acropolis.
During the Peloponnesian War, Proti Island played a pivotal role leading to many victories in the battles opposing Athenian and Spartan fleets in approximately 424 B.C.
Also on the island stands Gorgopege Assumption Monastery, dedicated to the “Virgin Mary of Quickwater”, which was built starting in 1984. The old chapel was built there around 1850 on top of the ruins of an ancient temple celebrating the Greek goddess Artemis Euploias, i.e. Artemis of Fair Voyage.
Many were the times where Proti has served as a natural breakwater, protecting ships from the force of waves in the Ionian Sea, such as the battleship SPETSES anchored on Proti Island back in 1899 to find shelter from a heavy storm.
In the heyday of piracy, Proti Island, specifically the Strait of Katoulias was used as a base for privateer Katoulias, who hailed from the Island of Cephalonia while his crew was from the infamous region of Mani.
On Proti, in the small Bay of Grammeno (which loosely translates to written), approximately 30 engraved inscriptions serve as signposts from various periods – dating back to Post-Classical, Roman and Byzantine Eras. Some of these writings express wishes of sailors, boatmen from days of old who used the island’s coves as a haven from the heavy sea, leaving wishes to the gods, requesting that their journeys continue safely. A few of the engravings, however, are darker in nature and consist in warnings meant for pirates...
“He who spends the night in the straits of Proti had better stay awake, for otherwise he shall become the loot of plundering thieves of Barbary.”

My trip to Greece (October 2005)
Here is a video of my trip to Greece in October of 2005. Pics and clips are taken in the towns of Kiparissia, Filiatra, my hometown of Gargaliani and the city of Kalamata. All these are located in the perfecture (nomos) of Messinia, in South West of the Peloponnese.
