The approximate time of Kaali meteorite fall is 7500-7600 years ago. Meteorite fall caused big damages on already inhabited Saaremaa, it could be compared to explosion of atomic bomb.

Kaali Crater Field (Traveline in Estonia)
Follow us on Facebook,
In the Estonian island of Saaremaa in the Baltic there is the largest crater field in Europe, all covered with snow in the early spring season. We visit the crater of Kaali, which hosts a perfectly round-shaped lake all frozen at this time of year.

I visited this crater in 2006, it is near Johannesburg, SA while on my way to Tanzania for an expedition to recover meteorites in Ufana.
1.13 km in diameter, 100 m deep] and the age is estimated to be 220,000 ± 52,000 years (Pleistocene). The impactor is believed to have been a stony meteorite some 30 to 50 m in diameter that was vaporised during the impact event.

Viron Saarenmaan Kaalin isoin meteoriittikraateri / Kaali crater Saarenmaa Estonia
Kaalin meteoriitin putoamisen arvioitu aika on 7500-7600 vuotta sitten. Kraaterin putoaminen jo asutetulle Saarenmaalle aiheutti suuria tuhoja, joita on verrattu pienen atomipommin säjähdykseen. Meteoriitti hajosi kappaleiksi 5-10 km korkeudessa ja satoi maanpinnalle paloina, joista suurimmat aiheuttivat yhden halkaisijaltaan 110 m leveän 22 m syvän kraaterin sekä 8 pienempää kraateria. Hyvä tietää: Maailman suurkraaterien joukossa Kaalin kraateri on kahdeksannella sijalla. Kaalin meteoriittikraaterikenttä Saarenmaalla on Viron harvinaisin luononähtävyys ja samalla koko Euraasian vaikuttavin kraaterikenttä. English: Kaali is a group of 9 meteorite craters in the village of Kaali on the Estonian island of Saaremaa. Most recent estimates put its formation 3470 to 3545 years ago. Before that is was thought that craters formed more than 4,000 years ago (based on the age of the sediments at the bottom of crater lake), and possibly as long as 7,600 years ago. It was created by an impact event and is possibly the only known major impact event that has occurred in a populated area.

Kaali crater - Video Learning - WizScience.com
Kaali is a group of 9 meteorite craters in the village of Kaali on the Estonian island of Saaremaa. Formed more than 4,000 years ago , and possibly as long as 7,600 years ago , it is a comparatively recent crater. It was created by an impact event and is possibly the only known major impact event that has occurred in a populated area.
Prior to the 1930s there were several hypothesis about the origin of the crater, including theories involving vulcanism and karst processes. Its meteoritic origins were first conclusively demonstrated by Ivan Reinvald in 1928, 1933 and 1937.
The impact is thought to have happened in the Holocene period, more than 4,000 years ago. Analysis of silicate spherules in Estonian bogs show that the possible age of the impact craters could be approximately 7,600 years. Other studies show more recent ages, even 7th century BC. The craters were formed by a meteor with an estimated impact velocity of between 10 and 20 km/s with a total mass of between 20 and 80 metric tonnes. The meteorite arrived from the north-east.
At an altitude of 5–10 km, the meteorite broke into pieces and fell to the Earth in fragments, the greatest of which produced a crater with a diameter of 110 m and a depth of 22 m. The explosion removed approximately 81,000 cubic meters of dolomite and other rocks and formed a 7–8 km tall, extremely hot gas flow. Vegetation was incinerated up to 6 km from the impact site.
Kaali Lake is on the bottom of this crater. Eight smaller craters are also associated with this bombardment. Their diameters range from 12 to 40 meters and their respective depths vary from one to four meters. They are all within one kilometer of the main crater.
