Kaba Aye Pagoda in Yangon
This pagoda was built 1952 for the 1954-56 sixth Buddhist Synod. The name in Myanmar means world peace to which this pagoda is dedicated.
There are several niches around the perimeter of the pagoda. Each contains a different Buddha statue, each representative of a style from a particular Buddhist country.

Mahapasana Cave in Yangon
The Mahapasana Cave (great cave) was built simultaneously with the Kaba Aye Pagoda and is located in the same complex. The cave is a replica of the Satta Panni cave, located in India, where the first Buddhist Synod was convened. The six entrances of The Maha Pasana Cave symbolize the Sixth Great Synod. The cave is 455 feet (139 m) long and 370 feet (110 m) wide. Inside, the assembly hall is 220 feet (67 m) long and 140 feet (43 m) wide.
The Mahapasana Cave also hosts religious examination called the Tipitakadhara Tipitaka Kovida Examinations, an extensive recitation, oral and written examination on the Tipitaka, the religious body of works in Theravada Buddhism.

Top 5 Pagodas in Yangon
The Shwedagon Pagoda is a Buddhist temple in Yangon, Myanmar and is an important Buddhist monument. This building preserves four Buddhist relics that belonged to the previous incarnations of Buddha and is an important temple for the Theravada tradition of Buddhism and for the people of Myanmar.
The Shwedagon Pagoda, which is also called the Golden Pagoda Myanmar is the most famous destination in the whole country and attracts crowds from all over the world. This 100-meter-high structure has been said to exist since the 6th century, so the pagoda is 2,600 years old, making Shwedagon the oldest pagoda in the world.
Shwe means Gold in Burmese, and Dagon means three hills, the ancient name of Yangon City where the stupa is located.
The pagoda is much more than a tourist attraction—it is the most important religious site in Myanmar. It is also a functioning, very active place of worship. Scores of monks, pilgrims, and devotees mix among tourists at the monument.
The gold seen on the stupa is made of genuine gold plates, covering the brick structure and attached by traditional rivets. People all over the country, as well as monarchs in its history, have donated gold to the pagoda to maintain it.
The main gold-plated dome is topped by a stupa containing over 7,000 diamonds, rubies, topaz and sapphires, the whole giddy concoction offset by a massive emerald positioned to reflect the last rays of the setting sun.
Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple is the most well-known Buddhist temple in Yangon. It houses one of the most revered reclining buddha images in the country. The Buddha image is 66 metres (217 ft) long, and one of the largest in Burma.
The patterns on the feet - I believe they call it the footprint - were not something I had seen before. Well worth a visit, whether you have 10 minutes or a couple of hours to spare.
The Nga Htat Gyi Pagoda in Yangon is known for its image of the enormous Buddha sitting.
When you arrive at the temple, you will immediately be impressed with a picture of a giant Buddha statue wearing a royal costume splendidly. The lip and the nails of Buddha statue are painted red.
Kaba Aye Pagoda is also known as the World Peace Pagoda, which is a relatively new pagoda in the Yangon city. The Pagoda has become an attractive destination for visitors, especially in the pilgrimage season.
Previously, the pagoda had been hit by a boom attack in connection with the detention of prisoners during the war, so that this pagoda was named the World Peace Pagoda, as words of warning and a reminder of peaceful preservation according to the Buddha preaching.
Belonging to the same location with Kaba Aye are Maha Pasana Cave. Its name “Maha Pasana” means Great Cave of Stone – a version of “Satta Panni Cave” in India which held the 1st Buddhist Council.
The Sule Pagoda is a Burmese stupa located in the heart of downtown Yangon, occupying the centre of the city and an important space in contemporary Burmese politics, ideology and geography. According to legend, it was built before the Shwedagon Pagoda during the time of the Buddha, making it more than 2,600 years old.
The Sule Pagoda has been the focal point of both Yangon and Burmese politics. It has served as a rallying point in both the 1988 uprising and 2007 Saffron Revollution.
