Ito (伊東, Itō) is a famous hot spring resort town on the eastern coast of the Izu Peninsula. Due to its easy accessibility from Tokyo, the town is partially quite built-up, but also offers some historic buildings in its center, such as the Tokaikan, a historic, former ryokan open to the public. Outside the town center, Ito offers quite impressive natural scenery with its cliffy coast and hilly terrain.
About ten kilometers south of central Ito is Izu Kogen, a popular villa district and sightseeing destination with many small museums, restaurants, Mount Omuro and the beautiful Jogasaki Coast.

【IZU】ATAMI CASTLE & KADOWAKITSURI BRIDGE 熱海城 & 門脇吊橋
Atami Castle (熱海城, Atamijō) was built as a tourist attraction in 1959 on a mountaintop overlooking Atami despite the fact that the city historically never had such a castle.
Atami Castle stands 100 meters above sea level, and its top floor offers panoramic views over Atami and Sagami Bay.
Kadowakitsuri suspension bridge 門脇吊橋 - suspension bridge over the channel in Jogasaki, 48m long 23 meter high.
It is located between Kadokake and Kadowaki Cliffs which were made of lava flow from the volcano Omuro 4 thousand years ago.

Took a mini one night vacation in Ito on the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture. Surrounded by mountains and the ocean, the are provided us with a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. At only around a 3 hour train ride from Tokyo, it's super accessible even without a car.
The place we stayed at was amazing, offering pick up and drop off from the station to the hotel. It also had a bunch of different baths that you could use privately! Dinner and breakfast were also included, and oh boy they were super fancy.

The Jogasaki Coast (城ヶ崎海岸, Jōgasaki Kaigan) is a beautiful section of coastline along the Izu Peninsula's eastern coast. It is located in the Izu Kogen area, about ten kilometers south of central Ito. An attractive hiking trail follows the coast for almost ten kilometers, offering beautiful views of the jagged cliffs and stone formations that hug the coast. It is also possible to walk shorter sections of the trail.
