If you thought Reykjavik, Iceland was filled with whale eating maniacs, think again! This beautiful country has so much to offer especially during their incredible nightlife. I created a bucket list of the top rated night clubs and bars in this tiny town of 120,000 inhabitants.
Why not call a friend to show you around town instead of trying to figure everything out by yourself during a short stay or layover in Iceland. My buddy Darri McMahon from rvkbynight.is is the master of the Reykjavik nightlife. He showed me some of the best bars and nightclubs in Reykjavik and introduced to some of the coolest and hottest people in Iceland.
The streets run wild on Saturday night and let me tell you these Icelanders truly know how to party hard and have a good time. We had VIP at the best night club in Reykjavik called Austur which had two floors and a large dance floor.
Darri introduced me to traditional Icelandic shots called Brennivin, also known as Black Death which is a liqourish tasting vodka. The Icelandic folks in Reykjavik are incredible; they are polite, smart, friendly and above all have a good sense of humor. While enjoying our drinks at Austur we ran into Thor aka The Mountain (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson) from the series Game of Thrones, he is the strongest man in Iceland and World's Strongest Man. Thor's hands are absolutely massive, look at the photo comparison to my hand. Thor is an awesome dude, very humble and fun to talk to.
Other fantastic bars & nightclubs we checked out where the Danish pub called Der Danske Kro and a cool hipster bar called Dolly (now closed). The ratio of guys to girls in Reykjavik on a Saturday night is excellent.
I wish I could stay longer but after this intense experience I am already thinking of making a comeback next time on route to Europe. If you are looking for an incredible night in Reykjavik, than contact Darri to be your guide at RVKBYNIGHT.is.

Damien Rice on Iceland, life, and creativity for The Line of Best Fit
Damien Rice isn't the archetypal popstar. After a 8-year hiatus – an eternity for a mainstream artist – the Irishman is back with his new album My Favorite Faded Fantasy.
Recorded between Los Angeles and Iceland and produced by Rick Rubin, the drop marks his third release, following 2006's 9. In advance of its November release we caught up with the singer and his collaborators in Reykjavik, for an exclusive video interview with Best Fit.
We chatted to Rice about the period of creative apathy that followed his second record and how he was able to get back to a place where he was excited to make music again, and got some of his collaborators discuss their experiences of working with him.

A March Through Europe (Pt. 100) - The Lebowski Bar, Reykjavik, Iceland
March 23, 2018 - It's dinner time, and there is not a moment to lose! I spent so much time wandering the streets of Reykjavik this Friday evening, I didn't leave much time for finding a place to eat; luckily for me, I had one in mind all along, and it is located only one block from my hotel!
I present to you, the Lebowski Bar! For some reason someone decided to theme this restaurant and bar after the cult favourite Coen Brothers film, The Big Lebowski, but that works for me! This place was great - a fun atmosphere with decent food and drinks.
You have been warned, though - EVERYTHING in Iceland is expensive. Like, EVERYTHING.

Sonar Festival 2017 | Reykjavik Iceland
Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to visit this beautiful country and witness its unique culture first hand. During our stay in the city we also attended the Sonar Festival Of Music and Arts and Harpa concert Hall in downtown Reykjavik.
This is a tiny sneak peek into what went down there. If you are planning a trip to this country make sure its around the time of Sonar.

Damon Albarn in Iceland, first year
According to the Icelandic newspapers, Damon arrived in Reykjavik for the first time on Monday 1 April 1996 and booked into the Saga hotel. I didn't know it meant Saga holidays, for older people – he told the Guardian several years later – I thought it was Saga as in Nordic sagas. But it was actually an OAP cruise hotel. I was on my own: I didn't know anybody. I went into the street, Laugavegur, where the bars are, and that was it.
On the next day he went on a package tour along with other tourists, mostly Japanese, to Gullfoss and Geysir (for these unfamiliar with Iceland's tourist attractions, Gullfoss is a huge waterfall and Geysir is the namesake for all the world's geysers - nowadays it's hardly active; its neighbour Strokkur erupting every few minutes is much more attractive). In Reykjavik Damon visited Stúdíó Sýrland (where later he would record vocals for the Blur album), spent a significant amount of time at Kaffibarinn, went to see a handball game and visited the Blue Lagoon with a journalist and a photographer from NME. His anonymity was over before it even started though.
I thought nobody would know who I was in Iceland. I had this vision of arriving at this little guest house by the sea, completely detached from any civilisation. Instead, the first person I met knew who I was, and the next morning the national news were ringing up to ask me why I was here. It turns out we had the biggest selling album in Iceland last year. It's the only place on earth where we're bigger than Oasis. Ha, ha, ha!' (Damon for NME)
