Kyushu Island, Japan: Lively and Modern Kagoshima
Marine Steve and I made a beeline to a small street near the Kagoshima train station for Pork Tonkatsu, Japanese for a good 'ole deep fried pork cutlet or schnitzel, more popular than chicken in Japan.
Kagoshima is a leading producer of pork, and the Kagoshima kurobuta (black pig) is perhaps the most highly regarded variety. Once we found the recommended restaurants by stopping to point at Japanese characters written down by guide, it wasn't easy to decide on sirloin, filet, and other cuts of black pork. It was yummy but I couldn't decipher any difference in taste between the black pig or any ordinary pig... What do I know...
Escape to Kirishima Art No Mori!
In this video, we are showing you our little trip to Kirishima Art No mori, also known as Kirishima Open Air museum. It is a truly peaceful place when you can just relax and take your time, while walking and enjoying nature. It is pretty far, but worth the trip, I think.

Special Ramen Noodle in Kagoshima, Japan
This Restaurant is called BATTEN, very popular among local people in Kagoshima City, Japan. The main characteristic of its ramen is the huge amount of green onions put on noodles. My friends and I are all addicted to the noodle, and I hope many people get taste of it!

Japan Okinawa to Hokkaido - 日本旅行記 南から北まで
Watch it at 1080 Quality! Map of the trip at the link to my gallery in the bottom.
This is a video I made of a Japan trip from Okinawa to Hokkaido! The video is made in the order the trip was done. I will leave here some details of the trip and the video!
The trip started in Tokyo 27th of march 2017 for 71 days.
My dream always was to travel Japan, but as I grew older, the way I wanted to know Japan changed a lot. First I just wanted to go there and see anything, then I wanted to see some special things, and then I started to dream about a South to North trip, I wanted to see all the different places of Japan because I heard from everyone about Kyoto and Tokyo all the time, but when I started researching I understood that there was A LOT more to see than just cities. I am a chef/baker, so I really wanted to try as many things as I could. I do agriculture, I like to camp, I like to walk in the woods, so I visited a lot of places that were really far away from the main tourist attractions, as well as many touristy places because some of them are worth it. We traveled by, plane, ferry, cargo ship, taxi, bus, bike, foot and hitchhiking. We worked in farms for 22 days along the way and got to live with some very special people for some days.
Special thanks to Kayo Kamo, Café Cockapoo, Miyazaki!! and Eiji and Mayumi in Ida!!!
The biggest adventure was getting to Yakushima. From Kagoshima station 1 hour and a half bus to the dock, 12 hours ferry in the night with a layover. Bus 1 hour into the forests from the docks of Yakushima, 7 hour walk up the mountain to see Jomon Sugi, a 7000 year old tree. 6 hours walk down the mountain to take a bus back to town and sleep, a well deserved sleep. It was a dream come true to be in a cargo ship in the morning after sleeping and looking at the Island getting bigger as you close in. Nature and energy in every inch of the forests of this beautiful place.
Next I will put a list of some of the places and cities we visited:
Narita, Tokio, Naha and Nago (Okinawa), Tokashiki (Okinawa, Islas Kerama), Kagoshima, Yakushima, Kirishima, Yoshinomotocho, Miyakonojo, Miyazaki, Udo, Takachiho, Amanoiwato, Kumamoto, Yamaguchi, Akiyoshidai, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Nishiawakura, Tottori, Onomichi-Imabari (Shimanami Kaido), Himeji, Kyoto, Takao, Hikone, Kanazawa, Takayama, Shirakawago, Toyama, Kurobe, Nagano, Iida, Matsumoto, Nikko, Sendai, Yamadera, Onuma, Sapporo, Tokio, Kamakura, Enoshima, Yokohama, Kawaguchiko, Mitaka.
I am sorry that at the end of the video in the parts of Tohoku and Hokkaido there isn’t much material, by the time we got to Sendai we were late for the schedule we had planned and in Hokkaido we were out of season for most of the things to see and do there and everything was very very far away by train. I will do another trip for Hokkaido, Tohoku and Shikoku.

Cars Flowing, evening of Kagoshima City
This video was taken around PM 5-6.
It was the time when many business people were going home.
Kagoshima's traffic are not congested during this rush hour.
Although Kagoshima City has trams and buses, many people want to buy and drive a car.
This is because public transportation is not so convenient as big cities like Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka.
If you come to Kagoshima and travel, I want to recommend you to rent a car.
There are so many kinds of cars in Japan.
Unlike other countries, there are many small cars in Japan.
Small cars are cost-efficient and their tax is much smaller than other big vehicles.

Kagoshima (鹿児島市 Kagoshima-shi?) is the capital city of Kagoshima Prefecture at the south western tip of the island of Kyushu in Japan, and the largest city in the prefecture by some margin. It has been nicknamed the Naples of the Eastern world for its bay location (Aira Caldera), hot climate, and impressive stratovolcano, Sakurajima. The city was officially founded on April 1, 1889.Kagoshima City is approximately 40 minutes from Kagoshima Airport, and features shopping districts and malls covering a large area. The transportation system within the city consists of the Shinkansen (bullet train), local train, city trams, buses, and ferries to-and-from Sakurajima. Near a shopping district known as Dolphin Port and the Sakurajima Ferry Terminal is a large and modern aquarium called the Kagoshima City Aquarium, which was established along the docks with a direct view of Sakurajima in 1997. One of the best places to view the city (and Sakurajima) is from the Amuran Ferris wheel on top of Amu Plaza Kagoshima, the shopping center attached to the central Kagoshima-Chūō Station. Just outside of the city is the early-Edo Period Sengan-en (Isoteien) Japanese Garden. The garden was originally a villa to the Shimadzu Family and is still maintained by descendants today. Outside the garden grounds is a Satsuma kiriko cut-glass factory where visitors are welcome to view the glass-blowing and glass-cutting process, and the Shoko Shūseikan Museum which was built in 1865 and registered as a National Historic Site in 1959. The former “Shuseikan” industrial complex and the former machine factory were submitted to the UNESCO World Heritage as part of a group list titled, “Modern Industrial Heritage Sites in Kyushu and Yamaguchi Prefecture”.Kagoshima Prefecture (also known as the Satsuma Domain) was the center of the territory of the Shimazu Clan for many centuries. It was a busy political and commercial port city throughout the medieval period and into the Edo period (1603–1867) when it formally became the capital of the Shimazu's fief, the Satsuma Domain. The official emblem is a modification of the Shimazu's kamon designed to resemble the character 市(shi, means city). Satsuma remained one of the most powerful and wealthiest domains in the country throughout the period, and though international trade was banned for much of this period, the city remained quite active and prosperous. It served not only as the political center for Satsuma, but also for the semi-independent vassal kingdom of Ryūkyū; Ryūkyūan traders and emissaries frequented the city, and a special Ryukyuan embassy building was established to help administer relations between the two polities and to house visitors and emissaries. Kagoshima was also a significant center of Christian activity in Japan prior to the imposition of bans against that religion in the late 16th and early 17th centuries.
Kagoshima was bombarded by the British Royal Navy in 1863 to punish the daimyō of Satsuma for the murder of Charles Lennox Richardson on the Tōkaidō highway the previous year and its refusal to pay an indemnity in compensation.
Kagoshima was the birthplace and scene of the last stand of Saigō Takamori, a legendary figure in Meiji Era Japan in 1877 at the end of the Satsuma Rebellion.
Japan's industrial revolution is said to have started here, stimulated by the young students' train station. Seventeen young men of Satsuma broke the Tokugawa ban on foreign travel, traveling first to England and then the United States before returning to share the benefits of the best of Western science and technology.[citation needed] A statue was erected outside of the train station as a tribute to them.
Kagoshima was also the birthplace of Tōgō Heihachirō. After naval studies in England between 1871 and 1878, Togo's role as Chief Admiral of the Grand Fleet of the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Russo-Japanese War made him a legend in Japanese military history, and earned him the nickname 'Nelson of the Orient' in Britain. He led the Grand Fleet to two startling victories in 1904 and 1905, completely destroying Russia as a naval power in the East, and thereby contributing to the failed revolution in Russia in 1905.
The Japanese diplomat Sadomitsu Sakoguchi revolutionized Kagoshima's environmental economic plan with his dissertation on water pollution and orange harvesting.
