Fantastic Places in Cool Japan :
Kirishima Jingu Shrine is located on the Kirishima Mountains, which was designated as a national park for the first time in Japan. In the age of myth that the gods made this world and reigned, the “island floating in the misty sea” seen from the heavenly world is considered as the origin of the name “Kirishima” (fog island).

I made a visit to Kirishima Jingu Shrine with my friend on 6 May 2015.
I am not so religious but I could feel that the shrine's atomosphere is full of spiritual atmosphere.
The shrine worships the ancestral God of Japan who created the Land of Japan.

Kirishima-Higashi Shrine : Traditional & Beautiful Shrine in Kagoshima, Japan (2015/07/11)
This shrine is 30 minutes away from Kirishima Jingu Shrine.
There are less tourists than in Kirishima Jungu, but you can enjoy more traditional Japanese atmosphere at this Kirishima-Higashi Shrine.
This shrine worships the same God as Kirishima Shrine.
The name of the God is Ninigi-no-Mikoto, or the founder of Japan.

This shrine Kirishimma-Higashi-Jinaja is located at prefecture boarder between Kagoshima and Miyazaki.
This movie was taken inside of the shirine.
Deep in the mountain, atmosphere is more spiritual and sacred than other shrines.
This shrine is also known as the place where Japanese land was created.

Secret Shrine WAKAMIKO at Kirishima City, Kagoshima, Japan
(Wakamiko Shrine)
I happened to find this hidden place at Kirishima City.
This shrine is just along the seashore.
The atmosphere is full of something spiritual.
Deity has a cocoon-like shape.
I heard only local fishermen come and worship.
(Name of Wakamiko)
The northern part of Kagoshima Bay is the big crater (diameter 20km) and called AIRA Caldera.
The central part of the caldera (north of Mt.Sakurajima) is called Wakamiko.
Wakamiko keeps volcanic activity under sea water.
You can see many hot bubbles are popping up on the water surface.
Local fishermen call the phenomenon Tagiri (which means boiling in local Kagoshima dialect.)
I think that those fishermen built this shrine in hope of calmness of Wakamiko.

鹿児島県の霧島神宮に初詣に行ってきました！
予想以上に寒い！
霧島神宮駅から出ているタクシーやバスも全く乗れず、歩いて向かうことにしましたが、とても歩ける距離じゃない！
途中でタクシーに乗れたのでラッキーでした。
この日はバスも大幅に遅れていたようです。
霧島神宮には焼き鳥やイカ焼きなどお店がたくさんあって賑やかな雰囲気！
お参りも行列がすごかったです。
霧島神宮の次に旧参道にある七不思議伝説の「亀石」と「風穴」も見てきました！
そしてさらに移動して、霧島神宮が元々あった場所である霧島神宮古宮址にも行ってきました。
パワースポットでも有名な場所で、天孫降臨の地としても知られています。
おみくじ引いたり、御朱印頂いたり、散策したりと大満足！

This shrine is Kagoshima Jingu. The greatest shrine in Osumi region. The Japanese pictures on ceiling are very beautiful. I heard some young couples have marriage ceremony at this place of the shrine.

Kirishima 霧島 is located in Kagoshima, Japan.
Mount Kirishima 霧島山 is a 1700 meter high active volcano group in Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. Numerous eruptions have been recorded since 742. Very strong eruptions happened in 788, 1716 and 1717.
The highest peak is Mount Karakuni 韓国岳 1700 m. Other peaks are Takachihonomine 高千穂峰 (1573 m) and Shinmoedake 新燃岳, both active volcanos. They are part of Kirishima-Yaku National Park near Kirishima City. Mount Kirishima is considered one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains. The area is often foggy, and it is believed that the name Kirishima comes from the mountain looking like an island in the fog.
