Guyana: Potaro River to Magueetuk Devil Falls: pt 6
Entering the forest from the Potaro River Bank our guide Tony Melville fashioned walking sticks for each one of us and we began a hike to Tukiet via Magueetuk (Devil Falls). The view of this remote falls was one of the highlights of our trip.
Guyana: Magueetuk to Tukiet on the way to Kaieteur Falls: pt7
After a dip in Five Mouth Falls also known as Tony's Falls or Magueetuk, we walked to Tukiet Guest House. The guest house is most comfortable. Solar panels provide electricity so you can recharge camera batteries.

My favorite waterfall. Enjoy... at 741 feet it is the world's largest single drop waterfall by the volume of water flowing over it & sits in a section of the Amazon rainforest included in the Potaro-Siparuni region of Guyana, South America.
A little glimpse of the Orinduik Falls of Guyana
Orinduik Falls. The Orinduik Falls is located on the Ireng River in the Potaro-Siparuni Region of Guyana. It is at a point where the highland Ireng river thunders over steps and terraces of red jasper on the border of Guyana and Brazil before merging with the Takutu River and into Brazil to join the Amazon River.

It is 226 metres (741 ft) high when measured from its plunge over a sandstone and conglomerate cliff to the first break. It then flows over a series of steep cascades that, when included in the measurements, bring the total height to 251 metres (822 ft). While many falls have greater height, few have the combination of height and water volume, and Kaieteur is among the most powerful waterfalls in the world with an average flow rate of 663 cubic metres per second (23,400 cubic feet per second)
Kaieteur Falls is about four times higher than Niagara Falls, on the border between Canada and the United States, and about twice the height of Victoria Falls, on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe in Africa. It is a single drop waterfall.
Upriver from the falls, the Potaro Plateau stretches out to the distant escarpment of the Pakaraima Mountains. The Potaro River empties into the Essequibo River which is one of the longest and widest rivers in South America and the longest river in Guyana.

Overland Trip to Kaieteur Falls , Guyana
This is a short video showing my independant overland journey from Georgetown all the way to Kaieteur Falls, in Guyana.
Kaieteur Falls is an incredible place and one of the most spectacular spots in South America. I have travelled by land and by boat on the Potaro River to the Falls and stayed 3 mights at the guesthouse.
Apart from the falls, beautiful wildlife is to be seen, in particular the tiny golden dart frog and the showy Guyanese cock-of-the-rock.

Kaiteur Falls
Kaieteur Falls is a high-volume waterfall on the Potaro River in central Guyana, Potaro-Siparuni region. It is located in Kaieteur National Park. It is 226 meters (741 ft) when measured from its plunge over a sandstone and conglomerate cliff to the first break. It then flows over a series of steep cascades that, when included in the measurements, bring the total height to 251 meters (822 ft). While many falls have greater height, few have the combination of height and water volume. This has given Kaieteur Falls the misleading label of largest single drop waterfall in the world which is often misinterpreted as tallest single drop. However, it is likely one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world [1].
Kaieteur Falls is about five times higher than the more well known Niagara Falls, located on the border between Canada and the United States and about two times the height of the Victoria Falls located on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe in Africa. It is a single drop waterfall which is the 123rd tallest (single and multi-drop waterfall) in the world, according to the World Waterfalls Database. The same web site lists it as 19th largest waterfall in terms of volume [2], and in their estimation, Kaieteur is the 26th most scenic waterfall in the world
