Kálfholt is a family run horse breeding farm located on the eastern banks of the Þórsá river between the towns of Selfoss and Hella in South Iceland. The farm has been in the family since 1965 and in 1985 began to focus exclusively on breeding top quality Icelandic horses. Today the farm boasts about 100 horses, several of which have gone on to become national champions in many competitions around the country, such as Landsmót 1998.
Besides the breeding and training aspects of the farm, Kálfholt also offers year-round riding tours, ranging from child friendly 1 hour tours to week-long tours for experienced riders.
The breeding and training is carried out by the whole family and plays a large role in the daily activities of Kálfholt.
