LandCorp | Where On Earth, Kalgoorlie-Boulder Nov 2015
Kalgoorlie-Boulder has been revealed as the mystery location of LandCorp's highly successful Where On Earth social media campaign.
LandCorp, the State’s land development agency, launched the two-week Facebook competition that invited West Australian entrants to view a range of beautiful pictures and video clues and guess “Where On Earth” they were taken.
Pictures where posted daily and each held hidden clues to help entrants guess the mystery destination. The pictures captured local landscapes, livability, tourism and community aspects of life in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Not surprisingly, entrants were in awe of the pictures with answers ranging from South Africa, Europe and America to Australia's Eastern States. Some of the pictures could literally have been taken anywhere on earth - but they were all taken right here in regional Western Australia.
It is for that reason LandCorp decided to launch this competition – to showcase just how much regional WA is changing, to challenge and change existing perceptions, and to present regional living as a great option for those looking to purchase in quality estates.
Regional WA is continuing to transform thanks to Government and private sector investment in infrastructure to create highly livable cities and towns. Perhaps it's just the change you've been looking for?
Congratulations to all our daily prize winners and our lucky Western Australian major prize winner of the holiday for a family of 4 to our mystery Australian regional destination of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, valued at $5,000.
Thank you to everyone who participated and made it a great success, and a big thank you to Tourism Western Australia, City of Kagoorlie-Boulder and Kalgoorlie-Boulder Pure Gold Visitors Centre for assisting with the campaign and supplying a diverse range of amazing photographs and video footage.

AUSTRALIA - Round Tour - Perth - Port Augusta - Alice Springs - Uluru - Olgas - Kalgoorlie – Perth
The footage for this film was recorded in Sep-Oct 2014, and this edit-version is from May 2018.
The 8750 km and other distances reported were my estimates based on Google Maps information. The real length of the journey was 9766 kilometres however, with an average of 250 km per day.
So apparently there was 1016 km more local driving than already taken into account in the estimate.
The total length in time was 39 days, from 20th of September until 28th of October 2014.
