KaliJai || Best place to visit in Odisha || AsaBulijiba
Kalijai Temple is located on an island in Chilika Lake. It is considered to be the abode of the Goddess Kalijai. Goddess Kalijai is actually Kali, the source and the first 'Mahavidya' of 'Dasmahavidyas'. Highly revered by the local populace, the deity has been venerated in the local folklores and legends. The island provides an excellent destination for pilgrims as well as tourists. Every year in January, a huge gala fair is held during the festival of Makar Sankranti.
Legend has it that a newly married girl (named Jaai) along with her father was going to meet her husband. As her in-law's house was on an island in Chilika Lake they had to take a boat to ferry them across the lake. Odisha's coast is very prone to Cyclones and during this boat trip they were encountered with a severe Cyclone, as a result their boat was capsized in the Chilika Lake. All the boatmen and her father survived this event except for the girl Jaai. They searched for her but were unable to locate her. After this accidental death of that newly wed girl, she became the Goddess of people residing nearby and till now, she is worshiped as an EXCERPT of Kali. And, this is how the place got its name.
According to a poem by Pandit Godavarish Mishra, Jaai was a girl who was going to get married in Parikud island. The boat capsized in the storm. She met her tragic death and became the deity Kalijai. However, it's attributed to the imagination of the poet and may not be evidenced. Dr. Radha Charan Panda mentions in The History of Parikud (1930) that this temple was built by Sri Jagannath Mansingh, king of Bankad (currently known as Banapur) in the year 1717Discover Brahmapur An Initiative to spreading the vibrant side of Silkcity with glorious past and modern charm.

Boating from Balugaon to Kalijai Island in Chilka Lake
Kalijai is one of the famous goddess temples inside Chilika lake. You have to take a boat either from Balugaon or from Rambha. We reserved a motor boat from Balugaon. The journey took about two hours to reach Kalijai Island. It was very thrilling as there was water and only water all around us. It was my first visit to Kalijai. I had a fear in my childhood as every year many people were drowning in the lake. But now-a-days the boats are better and safe. This is the first part of the video which show the starting of our journey from Balugaon and chilika view till we reached Kalijai.

Visiting Kalijai Temple and Return from Kalijai to Balugan
The first part of the movie showed how we took the motor boat from Balugao and started our journey to Kalijai. This part of the movie shows the island of Kalijai and Kalijai temple. My mom was very happy to visit this historical place as it was her first visit too. My wife had visited earlier and she was giving long narrations about the place. After seeing the beautiful place we realized why the place is given so much importance.

40 Km Road Vlog From Berhampur To Rambha , Chilika Lake , Panthanivas | Best Tourist Place In Ganjam
Rambha, Chilika Lake
The state of Odisha has many of my favourite places and Chilika lake is definitely one of them.
Chilka is one of the largest brackish water lagoons in the world, offering shelter to a huge variety of birds and aquatic plants. Rambha is located at the southern coast of the Chilka lagoon, at a distance of 40 km from Berhampur on National Highway 5. The lake also serves as a safe haven of around 150 species of migratory birds during winter. Dotted with numerous islands, Rambha boasts of its enchanting picturesque beauty overlooking the Chilka Lake and the hills. From here, you can go for Dolphin watching and bird watching to different islands like the Breakfast Island, Becon Island and Birds Island.
Places to see in Rambha: You can make trip to the Honeymoon Island, nestled in the Rambha bay, adjacent to the Sankuda Island. The Breakfast Island, which has been formed between Badakuda Island and Somolo Island in the Rambha Bay is truly the most beautiful place to have your packed breakfast. The Somolo Island has the remnants of a dilapidated bungalow, built by the King of Kalikote. Some of the other major islands are Honeymoon Island, Birds Island, Parikud Island, Island of Nalabana, Rajhans Island and New Mouth. Among all these islands, the island of Nalbana deserves a special mention, as it is a sanctuary and a prime refuge point of the migratory birds. You can also savor the view of dolphins at the mouth of Chilka near Satpada.
The Beacon Island is also an impressive sightseeing location. The Khalikote range is also admirable, forming a wonderful backdrop of the Somolo and Dumkudi islands. Many tourists also visit the Bird’s Island, found in the southern sector of Chilka. Tourists with religious bent of mind can make a trip to the Kalijai Temple, devoted to Goddess Kalijai. Trips can also be made to the small island of Barunkuda, near Magarmukh, which houses a shrine of Lord Varuna. The Bhabakundeswar temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva is also worth visiting.
