Santa Bárbara - Waterfall with emerald water, Chapada dos Veadeiros Brazilian Highlands
The Cachoeira de Santa Bárbara (Santa Barbara Waterfall), with a drop of 30 meters (98 ft.) high, enchants its visitors with its incredible turquoise natural pool suitable for swimming all year round. The Waterfall is considered most beautiful in Chapada dos Veadeiros. It is located in the village of Engenho II within Historic Site Heritage Kalunga, 27 km from the city of Cavalcante, in the heart of Chapada dos Veadeiros, Goiás, Brazil. The Kalungas are one group of Quilombola, or people of African origin who live in hinterland settlements founded during the period of escaped slaves. The Kalunga communities of Goiás have existed for approximately 250 years, most of the approximately 5,000 Kalungas, who are of mixed race, black and native Indian, live in very poor conditions. The one-day tour also includes Capivara Waterfall. The guide hiring is mandatory.

Quilombo 130 | Brazil's slave descendants fight for their right to property
QUILOMBO KALUNGA, Brasil, June 20 - Every morning, Valdemir Francisco da Conceicao takes a short walk from his straw-roofed house with a bucket to take water from a river that flows through the lush mountains of Brazil's Goias state.
Vao de Almas, his remote village has no running water but da Conceicao doesn't mind - he enjoys his simple life as a farmer, planting cassava, corn and rice on his smallholding.
Da Conceicao is a quilombola, one of 16 million Brazilians descended from runaway slaves, who formed settlements known as quilombos after they fled harsh working conditions on their masters' farms and mines.

A água é azul cristalina e a energia é incrível! Vale muito a pena visitar!

To get to the trail, you can either go with your car or with the Pau de Arara (flat bed truck adapted for passenger transportation) which costs R$10 (round trip).
The trail is a 1,5 kilometers walk, and easy (in my opinion). The first stop is the Santa Barbarinha, a small waterfall, just to take a photo.
Inside the community there are Quilombola restaurants. The guide book a lunch for the group before heading to the waterfall. R$30 (you can eat as much as you want).
There are other waterfalls in the community, but we took the day off to see Santa Bárbara, which is the most famous in the region. The water is crystal blue and the energy is amazing! It’s a must-see place!
