The Kalyani Dam is a gravity dam constructed across the Swarnamukhi river at Tirupati city in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh, India. This dam is one of the major sources of water supply for Tirupati city and its catchment areas. Once filled completely, the dam can cater the water needs of Tirupati for at least two years.

The dam was constructed in the year 1977.
Location The dam was constructed across Swarnamukhi River with 25 million cubic meters storage capacity between hills which are part of Seshachalam Hill ranges.

It was hot summer day 30th May 2019, That was the day Jagan Mohan Reddy takes oath as 2nd Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. I( Only Andhrite), Mark( Netherlands), Victor(France), We are on our 5 days bicycling tour from Chennai to Gandikota, Kadapa. This was our first day. We arrived in Renigunta by train from Chennai. And our bicycling started from the Renigunta-Tirumala hills.
We figured out we weren't allowed uphill Tirumala hills by cycle, we covered Kalyani Dam in the afternoon. As my friends taking rest under the tree, I tried to capture these moments and was listening to Jagan's Oath as CM.

Heavy water inflow to Kalyani dam after continuous rain in Andhra Pradesh
The flood situation in Andhra Pradesh turned grim as the Godavari river flowed above the danger mark while incessant rains for the fourth day inundated dozens of villages and damaged crops.
The continuing rains under the impact of low pressure area created havoc in the districts of Adilabad, Warangal, Karimnagar and Khammam as several villages were cut off due to overflowing rivers, rivulets, tanks and streams. Crops spread over 10,000 acres were damaged in Adilabad district alone.
Bus services were suspended between Hyderabad and Karimnagar as a part of the road in Karimnagar district was washed away.
With incessant rains and huge inflows from upstream, Godavari river is in spate. It already touched the danger mark at Ramannagudem in Warangal district and at Bhadrachalam in Khammam district.
The chief minister asked the officials to put all areas abutting the river on high alert and to take precautionary measures by forming special teams.
