The Kamakhya Temple is an ancient Shakti Peeth temple situated on the Nilachal Hill in western part of Guwahati city in Assam, India. It is the main temple, dedicated to Kamakhya, in a complex of individual temples dedicated to the ten Mahavidyas: Bhuvaneshvari, Bagalamukhi, Chinnamasta, Tripura Sundari and Tara, Kali, Bhairavi, Dhumavati, Matangi and Kamala. The most important part of the temple in the inner sanctorum, the garbhagriha, a cave below ground level. The garbhagriha is small, dark and reached by narrow steep stone steps. Inside the cave there is a sheet of stone that slopes downwards from both sides meeting in a yoni-like depression some 10 inches deep. This hallow is constantly filled with water from n underground perennial spring. It is the vulva-shaped depression that is worshiped as the goddess Kamakhya herself and considered as most important pitha (abode) of the Devi.

WORLD'S SMALLEST RIVER ISLAND & KAMAKHYA TEMPLE, Guwahati
Hello Guys,
Click here to support my channel:
Finally, the North Eastern trip begins. After landing in Guwahati, I decided to explore Guwahati & started searching for some places. The first thing which grabbed my attention was Umananda Temple on the smallest river Island in the world. I was amazed by the fact that it's the smallest river Island in the world.
Second one which grabbed my attention was Kamakhya Temple where people pray Vagina in the beginning it was weird for me, like how someone can pray Vagina, but when I went there & talked with some Babas. They have given me logical facts, basically not scientific ones but if we put logic is Mythology it can be acceptable. They told me, if we can pray cows and some other animals, why can't we pray Vagina, I said it's weird & then he replied In this whole world every living thing comes from Vagina, It's the creator of the world & there is no shame in praying the creator. If we think logically, like any one can be God, then why can't we pray Vagina, Up to some I was accept his logic.
Let me be very clear, basically I don't believe in any religion, but it doesn't means I don't want to know about them. I'm very curious about the history of mankind & religion is very important in the history of mankind, so I'm very curious about these things & how it all started.
What's your opinion on it, Please reply it in the Comment section ????

Mythical History: The temple of Kamakhya has a very interesting story of its origin. It is one of the 108 Shakti peeths. The story of the Shakti peeths goes like this; once Sati fought with her husband Shiva to attend her father's great yagna. At the grand yagna, Sati's father Daksha insulted her husband. Sati was angered and in her shame, she jumped into the fire and killed herself. When Shiva came to know that his beloved wife had committed suicide, he went insane with rage. He placed Sati's dead body on his shoulders and did the tandav or dance of destruction.
To calm him down, Vishnu cut the dead body with his chakra. The 108 places where Sati's body parts fell are called Shakti peeths. Kamakhya temple is special because Sati's womb and vagina fell here.
