Kamakura Festival, Kamakura Matsuri 鎌倉まつり
Kamakura Japan has an annual festival called kamakura matsuri. Its held in the last week of every April. Sunday is the last day, and it includes horseback archery and traditionally dressed warriors. Kamakura is also home to Japan's largest statue of Buddha, and some super awesome green tea ice cream. Here I feature it for a moment, its the strongest they had, plus the matcha powder topping. That is worth the trip alone.
Used FCPX's optical blend for slomo. Thats probably a question somebody would gave.

Chatting with children in house made of snow.
Yokote is located in southeast corner of Akita Prefecture
by the Ōu Mountains and Iwate Prefecture to the east.
The Yokote Kamakura Festival has a history of about
400 years. It is held every year on February 15 and
16 in the city of Yokote in southeastern Akita Prefecture.
The festival features many igloo-like snow houses,
called kamakura, which are built at various locations
across the city.
Children inside the kamakura invite passers by inside.
The candle lights of these snow kamakura produce a
quiet, beautiful spectacle against the darkness.
Japanese Igloo Festival - Kamakura Matsuri in Yokote, Akita
February 15th-16th, the people of Yokote in Akita Prefecture in Northern Japan build two-meter tall snow huts known as Kamakura. Inside they have a small grill for keeping warm and for cooking mochi, chewy rice cake, and for heating up amezaki a type of sweet sake with almost no alcohol. Also inside is a small altar dedicated to Suijin-sama the god of water.
In ages past, Yokote had a drinking water shortage so the festival was created to get Suijin-sama's attention.

Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gū Reitaisai (Festival)
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu is Kamakura's most important shrine. Tsurugaoka Hachimangu played an important role not only as a religeous authority where the shogunate held many majestic rituals, but also served as the political centre of the realm.
Today, Kamakura is famous for its many historical sites and places of beauty. Tsurugaoka Hachimangu is still located at the centre of Kamakura, attracting the respect and the faith of so many.
The festival is conducted over three days from September 14th to 16th.
The Shinkosai parade of parishioner carrying portable shrines is also held followed by a procession of several hundred meters marching through the streets.

A day-trip to a city called Iiyama in Nagano prefecture for the snow hut festival, where we can enjoy our hot pot dinner inside an igloo. This year, the festival is only open from January 26th - February 27th, and reservation got filled up very quickly.

Kanagawa Kamakura Yabusame Matsuri - 流鏑馬 : It was in the 12th Century, that Kamakura quickly became a city of both Japanese politics and culture, as influential as Kyoto, with the iconic Tsurugaoka Hachimangu temple at its center. Because of its influence, Kamakura gathered a powerful army and as such had to train its troops and samurais in the latest combat techniques with “Yabusame” or horseback archery at one of the main disciplines.
Created and perfected in Kamakura, during what historians call the ‘Kamakura Period’ (1185-1333), Yabusame came from the alarming lack of archery skills of Shogun Minamoto’s Yoritomo samurais. Made mandatory for its skilled warriors, Yabusame became one of Japan’s martial arts as well as a part of its cultural heritage with Yabusame events taking place all across Japan every year.

【4K】Kamakura firework walk
Not a vlog, no intrusive faces or talking, pure Japan only.
There was a firework in Kamakura I wanted to see last two years. Because it's over the sea I did expect nice reflections and a lot of space and so not that crowded. Some of that was true, reflections were nice. Also intention of this video was not only to show fireworks only but more as event with people. I was streaming and though I did expect issues with connection I expected to find place which is not that much crowded, unsuccessfully.

Kamakura (Japan) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Kamakura in Japan.
South of Tokyo, on the island Honshu, is the seaport of Kamakura, Japan’s ancient seat of government and is where Shogun Yoritomo, of the Minamoto Clan, left the courtly life of Kyoto in 1192 and built numerous temples and shrines. The Tokei Ji Temple was where women lived as nuns following the death of their husband. The teaching of Zen, imported from China, filled large areas of both cultural and social life. A bridge over a pond leads to the Jochi-Ji Temple that was built within a cypress forest and is one of the five famous temples of Kamakura. Founded in 1282, the Engaku-Ji Monastery teaches the priesthood right up to the present day. Its buildings are typical of Zen design, such as the abbot's residence, sub-temples and tea houses. Within the main hall, Hokan Shaka Nyorai is worshipped. In Japan, the historic Buddha is either seated, standing or prone. Kencho-Ji is the most important of the five Zen monasteries of Kamakura and has been conserved in its original form and function. The second oldest bell in the city, cast in 1255, is one of the temple’s treasures. The buildings are located within a narrow valley, surrounded by wooded slopes where the silence of Zen is palpable. The decline of the region’s rulers was accompanied by violent struggles during which the city was largely destroyed and subsequently returned to being a fishing village.

Exploring Kamakura, Japan|Day 104 - Kanagawa
Kamakura (鎌倉) is a coastal town in Kanagawa Prefecture, less than an hour south of Tokyo. It became the political center of Japan, when Minamoto Yoritomo chose the city as the seat for his new military government in 1192. The Kamakura government continued to rule Japan for over a century, first under the Minamoto shogun and then under the Hojo regents.
After the decline of the Kamakura government in the 14th century and the establishment of its successor, the Muromachi or Ashikaga government in Kyoto, Kamakura remained the political center of Eastern Japan for some time before losing its position to other cities.
Today, Kamakura is a small city and a very popular tourist destination. Sometimes called the Kyoto of Eastern Japan, Kamakura offers numerous temples, shrines and other historical monuments. In addition, Kamakura's sand beaches attract large crowds during the summer months.

It snows a lot in Akita, Japan, so every winter, for over 420 years, the city of Yokote has celebrated the Kamakura Festival. Originally, Kamakura were made by each family, but as the festival grew more popular and widespread, people get together to help out with the building process of these igloo-like structures.
Inside the Kamakura you can see a family happily enjoying one another's company while savoring “amazake,” a sweet fermented rice drink, and “mochi,” a rice cake. Inside of each Kamakura, “Mizugami-sama,” a God of Water, can be found enshrined. People who celebrate this festival, whilst relishing in the amazake and mochi, make an offering to this god.
Thousands of Mini-Kamakura are made by pre-school to high school students, and each one contains a candle and a wish. These Mini-Kamakura here line a riverbank, creating a very romantic scenery.
Kamakura Hokokuji Temple - Kanagawa - 報国寺 - 4K Ultra HD
Kanagawa Kamakura Hokokuji Temple - 報国寺 - 4K Ultra HD : Number 10 on the Kamakura 33 Kannon pilgrimage, Hokokuji is one of Kamakura’s most peculiar temples. Secluded and located in the eastern hills of Kamakura, Hokokuji was founded in 1334 and, like many other temples in the region, it suffered badly as a result of the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake.
What’s so special about this temple is that it features a bamboo grove strengthened by more than 2,000 moso bamboo, that is hidden in plain sight. Only accessible from a small entrance on the left side of the main hall, this grove, or as many people like to call it, this bamboo ‘forest’ offers more than just one of the most gorgeous views than you can find in Kamakura. It also also hosts a small green tea coffee shop where you can enjoy one of Kamakura’s finest cups of Japanese tea while enjoying the view.
