On 19.04.1998, the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu declared that a Memorial would be constructed to honour Shri.Kamaraj, for his services to the people of Tamil Nadu. The Kamaraj Memorial was built at a cost of Rs. 50 Lakhs. The Memorial was dedicated to the nation by the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 2nd October, 2000.
The Kamaraj memorial displays rare collection of photographs depicting the important events and the life history of Shri. Kamaraj. The Memorial also has a library functioning.
Location and Tourist Importance
Kamaraj memorial is located just near to Gandhi Memorial. Visitors to Kanyakumari should not miss this Memorial and pay obeisance to Kamarajar.

உடல் நலக்குறைவு காரணமாக அப்போலோ மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டு, 2016-ம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் 5-ம் தேதி மரணம் அடைந்தார். ஜெயலலிதாவின் உடல் மெரினா கடற்கரையில் எம்ஜிஆர் நினைவிடம் அருகே நல்லடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டது. இந்த இடத்தில் நினைவு மண்டபம் கட்டப்படும் என தமிழக அரசு அறிவித்திருந்தது. இந்நிலையில், நினைவிடம் அமைப்பதற்கான வரைபடம் தயாரிக்கும் பணி முடிவடைந்தது.
இதனைத் தொடர்ந்து நினைவு மண்டபம் அமைக்க தமிழக அரசு சார்பில் டெண்டர் விடப்பட்டு இறுதி செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. கடந்த மார்ச் 15-ம் தேதி தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்ட தமிழக பட்ஜெட்டில் ஜெயலலிதா நினைவு மண்டபம் அமைக்க ஐம்பது கோடியே என்பது லட்சம் ரூபாய் ஒதுக்கப்பட்டது.
இந்நிலையில், ஜெயலலிதா நினைவிடத்தில் நினைவு மண்டபம் கட்டுவதற்கான அடிக்கல் நாட்டு விழா நடைபெற்றது.. முதலமைச்சர் எடப்பாடி கே.பழனிசாமி அடிக்கல் நாட்டினார். விழாவுக்கு துணை முதல்வர் ஓ.பன்னீர்செல்வம் முன்னிலை வகித்தார். முன்னதாக யாகசாலை பூஜை நடந்தது. அமைச்சகள் கடம்பூர் ராஜூ, காமராஜ், செங்கோட்டையன், வேலுமணி, சண்முகம், செல்லூர் ராஜு, மாஃபா பாண்டியராஜன் உள்ளிட்டோரும் பங்கேற்றனர்.
நினைவு மண்டப கட்டுமானப்பணிகளை வரும் நவம்பர் இறுதிக்குள் முடிக்க திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. டிசம்பர் 5-ம் தேதி ஜெயலலிதாவின் 2-ம் ஆண்டு நினைவு தினம் வருகிறது. அன்று நினைவு மண்டபத்தை பொதுமக்கள் பார்வைக்காக தொடங்க திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இதேபோல, சென்னை போயஸ் தோட்டத்தில் ஜெயலலிதா வசித்து வந்த வேதா இல்லம் நினைவிடமாக மாற்றப்படும் எனவும் தமிழக அரசு அறிவித்தது. நினைவிடம் அமைப்பதற்காக கடந்த பட்ஜெட்டில் 20 கோடி ரூபாய் நிதி ஒதுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்தப் பணிகளை அடுத்த ஆண்டு ஜனவரியில் முடித்து, ஜெயலலிதா பிறந்த தினமான பிப்ரவரி 24-ம் தேதி திறந்து வைக்கப்படும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.

Although it is referred singularly as Gandhi Mandapam, the complex comprises four other memorials of people of eminence such as Rettamalai Srinivasan, Rajaji, Kamaraj and Minjur Bhaktavatsalam. The most prominent of the structures is, however, the Gandhi Mandapam which is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. It is built in a temple style and is the largest of the memorials in the complex.
The first structure to be built on the premises is the famous Gandhi Mandapam, opened by C. Rajagopalachari on 27 January 1956. History memorial was also built in the same compound in 1876. The Kamaraj memorial was built the following year and the event was presided by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Owing to its prominence, the premise is often utilized for public functions, particularly for cultural discourses and music shows.
This is the place where the urn containing the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi was kept before a portion of which was immersed in the three seas. The exemplary temple is located near to the Kumari Amman Temple and is one of the most picturesque spots in Kanyakumari. The temple is built in such a way that on 2 October, the birth date of Mahatma Gandhi, the rays of sun fall exactly on the spot where the urn containing the ashes is kept.

Kumarasami Kamaraj , better known as K. Kamaraj, (15 July 1903 -- 2 October 1975) was an Indian politician from Tamil Nadu widely acknowledged as the Kingmaker in Indian politics during the 1960s. He was the chief minister of Tamil Nadu during 1954--1963 and a Member of Parliament during 1952--1954 and 1969--1975. He was known for his simplicity and integrity.
He was involved in the Indian independence movement. As a high-ranking office bearer of the Indian National Congress, he was instrumental in bringing to power two Prime Ministers, Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1964 and Indira Gandhi in 1966. In Tamil Nadu, his home state, he is still remembered for bringing school education to millions of the rural poor by introducing free education and the free Midday Meal Scheme during his tenure as chief minister. He was awarded India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, posthumously in 1976. The domestic terminal of the Chennai airport is named Kamaraj Terminal, Chennai's Beach Road renamed Kamarajar Salai, Bengaluru's North Parade Road as K. Kamaraj Rd. and the Madurai Kamaraj University in his honour.

A career scientist turned statesman, Kalam was born and raised in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, and studied physics and aerospace engineering. He spent the next four decades as a scientist and science administrator, mainly at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and was intimately involved in India's civilian space programme and military missile development efforts.[1] He thus came to be known as the Missile Man of India for his work on the development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology.[2][3][4] He also played a pivotal organisational, technical, and political role in India's Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998, the first since the original nuclear test by India in 1974
