In this video tour, we discover the location of a very famous manga, some very expensive fruit, nice side streets, a beautiful Shinto shrine, a HUGE supermarket, and shopping mall! So much happened in this video I can't list them all. It was a very enjoyable walk and the time went by so quickly!

This was filmed around the Kameari Station area, in Katsushika City area of Tokyo. It's about 3 or 4 stops away from my house and it's where I go to watch movies at the theater.
In the video, we come across this cartoon looking cop several times. He's Kankichi Ryotsu, the main character, of the famous manga Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo. (This is the Police Station in Front of Kameari Park in Katsushika Ward) The English manga title is KochiKame: Tokyo Beat Cops.
I remember this character's iconic face in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine when growing up, so it was very cool to discover that Kameari Station is actually the location where the manga series takes place! The manga ran from 1976 - 2016!!!

JAPANTRIP「Kameari」Katsushika-ku, Tokyo【東京都葛飾区亀有】
The koban located at the north entrance of the train station is known as a model of a koban in Osamu Akimoto's long-run manga Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo. The police cartoon stages in Kameari area where the train station is situated. As a tribute to the cartoon, two statues of the officer Kankichi Ryotsu, the main character of the series, were placed near north and south entrances of the train station in 2006.

Kochikame(*) is a long-running popular comedy manga and anime in Japan. The manga has been serialized since 1976 with over 1700 chapters. It is the longest-running manga series in history.
The story is set in Kameari, Katsushika Ward, Tokyo. Around Kameari Station, you can find several bronze statues of Kankichi Ryotsu, or Ryo-san, the main character of the story, and a few other supporting characters.

An official website for Yasuhiro Kawamura's Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen-mae Hashutsujo THE MOVIE: Kachidokibashi o Fusaseyo! has been launched with a teaser trailer.
The film is a continuation of the 2009 TBS drama which was based on Osamu Akimoto's Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Koen-mae Hashutsujo (1996-2009) manga series, also known as Kochikame for short.
As previously reported by Tokyograph, the live-action version stars Shingo Katori of SMAP as a police officer named Kankichi Ryotsu who gets involved in various misadventures adventures involving the people around his police box in front of Kameari Park in Katsushika Ward.
In the new film, Ryo-san has a chance encounter with a former grade school classmate and crush named Momoko (Kyoko Fukada), causing his heart to flutter. Soon after, the National Police Agency chief's granddaughter is kidnapped. When Ryo-san discovers Momoko may be involved in some way, he sets out to discover the truth. Returning cast members from the TV show include Karina, Mocomichi Hayami, and Masato Ibu.
Kochikame will be released by Shochiku in Japan on August 6, 2011.

On 16 June 2012, I measured radiation in Kameari Park of Katsushika-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
I monitored 0.17 micro Sievert per hour in air at my breast-high, 0.30 on a bench of the park. Moniroring point is 210km from Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear power plant, and only 10km for the center of Tokyo. Measuring instrument is made of Ukraine, ECOTEST MKS-05. It is said that the park is model for a popular animated TV show Kochikame.
