Kamla Nehru prani sangrahlaya is one of the recognized zoo out of total 180 recognized zoos in India. The Indore zoo is under control of Municipal Corporation, Indore which looks after maintenance and administrative control of the zoo.
In 1974 the Indore zoo was established in nawlakha area in only 17 acres land, later on in the year1999 adjoining 32 acres land of Quadibag was “Acquired” by the zoo so present area of Indore zoo is 51 acres. Total area of Indore zoo is full of greenery where different variety of trees and other plants gives natural feeling of forest to the wild animals.

Indore Zoo's official name is Kamla Nehru Prani Sangrahalaya. It’s a zoological garden located in Navlakha, Indore is fully owned and managed by Indore Municipal Corporation. This is the largest zoological garden of the state and one of the oldest zoological parks of Madhya Pradesh spread over an area of 4000 sq m. Zoo remains open from Tuesday to Sunday (Timings - 9:00 am - 6:00 pm).
10 Rupees Ticket for All Indians, but the entry fee for foreigners is INR 500. While kids up to 2 years of age are exempted from the entry fees. There is a total number of 57 animal species and around 628 specimens at Indore Zoo.
इंदौर के चिड़ियाघर का आधिकारिक नाम है- कमला नेहरू प्राणी संग्रहालय. यह नवलखा बस स्टैंड के पास है. खास बात है कि यह मध्य प्रदेश का सबसे बड़ा जूलॉजिकल गार्डन है, जो कि लगभग 4000 स्क्वायर मीटर में क्षेत्र में फैला है.
इंदौर नगर निगम इसके रखरखाव का काम संभालता है. चिड़ियाघर मंगलवार से रविवार के बीच ही खुलता है. यानी सोमवार को इसकी छुट्टी रहती है. भारतीय नागरिकों के लिए टिकट 10 रुपए है, जबकि विदेशियों के लिए यह शुल्क 500 रुपए है. अच्छी बात है कि 2 साल तक के बच्चों का टिकट नहीं लगता है.
अब आती है बात ज़ू की टाइमिंग की. जनाब, यह सुबह 9 बजे खुल जाता है और शाम 6 बजे तक इसमें घूमा जा सकता है. वैसे चिड़ियाघर को दो से तीन घंटे में अच्छे से घूमा जा सकता है.
आपको इस प्राणी उद्यान में लगभग 57 किस्म के जानवर और पक्षी देखने को मिलेंगे, जबकि फनी मिरर सेंटर भी है. वहां शीशों में आप अपनी ही अलग-अलग छवियां देख पाएंगे और हो सकता है उनसे लोट-पोट भी हों...तो फिर देर किस बात की, देखिए वीडियो.
