MINIASCAPE (Japan) 5-MINS EXTRACT
2.12 Thu 19:00
Kanagawa Arts Theatre, Hall
Miniascape by Xiao Ke × Zi Han
Miniascape (bonsai and garden art) is a typical art form in China and Japan; the small landscape shows the similar aesthetics and people’s respect for nature. But is the attitude in the realistic life the same too between Japan and China? In a two-month residency in Japan, Xiao Ke × Zi Han conducted a research on the Japanese local culture and contemporary life, especially the people’s reaction after the natural disasters. Due to the hugeness of the territory, in China, the influence of earthquake has faded from people’s memory. But in the insular country Japan, how do people reflect on what has changed in their daily life after the earthquake, tsunamis and nuclear leak accident? The two artists cross over dance performance, live music and video art to open abstract landscapes on stage, which show their understanding of contemporary Japan and China.

Oppama Festival 2016 : Monkey & Friends part1/2
Part 2 can be found -
From what I understand, Oppama Festival Happens once every 5 years. I had the opportunity to attend the festival and found that it was very eventful. This show happened multiple times throughout the day so I was very happy to be able to film this and share it with the rest of you, please enjoy.
Side Note - I did not take the time to get their information, but apparently, they do have a facebook so that you can catch the next show somewhere in Japan. For those discourage to look up Japanese materials online, you can use for your translating needs. They're not accurate, but it's helpful most of the times.
===============
Updated 07/13/2016 - Just learned that these shows are called Saru Mawashi. So if you want to look up more on youtube, that would be the correct name to input in your search for more shows like these.
