OurLuster | Nobuo Yamada (bamboo-doll artisan)
[English subtitled] Mr.Yamada says “I hope that I can work hard on creating bamboo dolls eliminating destraction in the calm environment in the forest of creation. I dream of creating works which become synonymous with bamboo dolls by bamboos, not other themes, from such an environment. And I want to value a relationship with the town people.”
[Yamada’s profile] He was born in Maruoka Town, Fukui Prefecture in 1942. He joined “Japan Kite Association” in 1979 and moved into bamboo craft. He left “Echizen Bamboo Doll Village” in 1996 and began creating his own bamboo dolls. His master Mr. Morota was awarded the International Arts Cultural Award in 1999. He devotes himself to creation not to bring disgrace on the master’s honor. (as excerpted from the website of Kanaz Forest of Creation)

Promotional video of Awara, My Town AWARA HAPPY FILM
[English subtitled] The beautiful views, climate, nature of Awara are introduced in this short movie from the perspective of a dog. The movie production of this one was started from the audition for the main character, a clever odg. The cute voice of the dog sounds very comforting, too.
Mitsutoshi Tanaka, who was nominated for the 39th Japan Academy Prize for Best Director, took one year to make the omnibus movie that was set mainly in the only hot spring resort in Fukui Prefecture, Awara Onsen. This is one of the omnibus movie, that consists of four short movies.
