Travel around Fukui & Kanazawa in Japan. - 福井と金沢
Before the end of 2014 I went on a little adventure to Fukui福井 and Kanazawa金沢 in Japan.
I didn't see much of Fukui in the end, but I did go to a Japanese garden in Kanazawa called Kenrokuen (兼六園).
and I saw Kanazawa Castle ().
The castle was pretty scary, with dark clouds and many crows near to the castle itself. I enjoyed both the garden and the castle, but you do have to pay to enter either of them.
One of my favourite parts of Kanazawa, would actually be the train station, as the architecture in front of the East exit is impressive.

Promotional video of Awara, My Town AWARA HAPPY FILM
[English subtitled]
The beautiful views, climate, nature of Awara are introduced in this short movie from the perspective of a dog. The movie production of this one was started from the audition for the main character, a clever odg. The cute voice of the dog sounds very comforting, too.
Mitsutoshi Tanaka, who was nominated for the 39th Japan Academy Prize for Best Director, took one year to make the omnibus movie that was set mainly in the only hot spring resort in Fukui Prefecture, Awara Onsen. This is one of the omnibus movie, that consists of four short movies.
It is reprinted with permission from Awara City tourism association. (English subtitled by GEN)

[MATSURI] Wajima Taisai Day 1 - Okutsuhime Jinja Taisai
***Special Educational Series about the Wajima Taisai (Wajima Grand Kiriko Festivals) of Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan*** by Walter Tsushima
The Wajima Taisai is one of the largest summer festivals in Ishikawa Prefecture and takes place in the Noto Peninsula region of the prefecture. The portable shrines, or mikoshi, are accompanied by 5-10 meter tall festival lanterns called, Kiriko that are carried through the town streets as the locals perform traditional kiriko festival music, or Kiriko matsuri-bayashi. At the festival climax, a special bonfire, or Taimatsu are lit by the sea and blessed Shinto strips of white paper, or Gohei, are scrambled after by the brave. The Kiriko of Wajima are especially distinctive because of their magnificent lacquered coatings and decorative designs.
