Panchama is a small village famous for the temple of Panchama Ganesh or Siddha Vinayaka as it is locally known.
Legend says that the Gajapati King Purushottama deva (15th century) of Puri on the way to his conquest of the
Kanchi Kingdom recovered the image in the hollow of two trees of Bara and Ashwattha and paid his homage to the
image after its consecration. Since then the place is sanctified and has become an important centre of Ganapataya worship,
preserving the great tradition of Panchadevata worship of Orissa. The idol still remains inside the trunk of two large ficus trees.
A temple is constructed around it. Around 200,000 devotees from Orissa and Andhra Pradesh visit this shrine on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Kanchi Kailasanathar Temple
The Kailasanath temple is one of the oldest temples of Kanchipuram, located in Tamil Nadu, India. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Siva.. The low-stung sandstone compound is filled with fascniating carvings, including many half-animal deities that were in vogue during the period of early Dravidian Architecture.
It was built by the Pallavas in the early 8th century CE. It also contains numerous panels showing lord Siva as Nataraja in various postures. This temple was built by Pallava King Narasimhavarman II (Rajasimhan).
Used to be a quiet place to hang out. But now this is not immune to the growing noise pollution. This structure is dissolving in air slowly but steadily.

Deep in the forests of Cambodia’s Siem Reap province, an ancient stone city soars skyward. This is the sprawling complex of Angkor Archaeological Park. The site is located in the northwestern region of the country and is only four miles from the city of Siem Reap. The Khmer Empire’s various capitals thrived here from the 9th to 15th centuries, over an empire that stretched from Myanmar to Vietnam. Including forested areas and newly discovered “suburbs” Angkor covers more than 400 square miles—an area considerably larger than New York City’s five boroughs.
The massive Angkor Wat is the most famed of all Cambodia’s temples—it even appears on the nation’s flag. The 12th century “temple-mountain” was built as a spiritual home for the Hindu god Vishnu.
The temples of Angkor are architectural masterpieces laden with artistic treasures like the bas-relief galleries that tell enduring tales of Cambodian history and legend.
Angkor is as much about water as it is about stone—the site boasts an enormous system of artificial canals, dikes, and reservoirs. The West Baray reservoir is the largest of which at 5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide. These massive works skillfully harnessed river and rainwater to quench the thirst of some 750,000 residents in the world’s largest preindustrial city. That water also irrigated wealth-producing crops like rice, which served the Khmer as currency.
It’s still a mystery to scientists why the city’s rulers abandoned the site and resettled near the modern capital of Phenom Penh. Some scholars speculate that the downfall of this elaborate water system led to the end of Angkor.
The town of Siem Reap is the gateway to Angkor and is filled with lodging, dining, and tour-package options for all budgets. Those preferring to travel by boat can also make the trip from Phnom Penh in some five or six hours—about the same travel time as by road. The airport in Siem Reap has service to Phnom Penh and regular flights abroad to Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, and Laos. The airport in Siem Reap has service to the capital and regular flights to nearby countries.
Peak tourist season in Angkor is December and January, when rainfall is less likely and the climate is most kind. No matter the time of year, a visit to Angkor is sure to leave you awestruck.

Kailasanathar Temple, Lord of the Cosmic Mountain, Kancheepuram, India
The Kailasanathar Temple (meaning:“Lord of the Cosmic Mountain”), is built in the tradition of Smartha worship of Shiva, Vishnu, Devi, Surya (Sun), Ganesha and Kartikeya, in Hinduism, a practice which replaced the Buddhism.
Temple construction is credited to the Pallava dynasty, who had established their kingdom with Kanchipuram (also known as Kanchi or Shiva Vishnu Kanchi) as the capital city, considered one of the seven sacred cities under Hinduism. There was an interregnum when the Chalukya rulers defeated the Pallavas and occupied Kanchipuram. However, the Pallavas regained their territory and started expanding their capital city of Kanchipuram and built many temples of great magnificence. The only temple of this period which is extant is the Kailsahanathar Temple.
The temple was built during 685-705AD. It is the first structural temple built in South India by Narasimhavarman II (Rajasimha), and who is also known as Rajasimha Pallaveswaram. His son, Mahendravarman III, completed the front façade and the gopuram (tower). Prior temples were either built of wood or hewn into rock faces in caves or on boulders, as seen in Mahabalipuram. The Kailasanathar temple became the trend setter for other similar temples in South India. According to local belief, the temple was a safe sanctuary for the rulers of the kingdom during wars. A secret tunnel, built by the kings, was used as an escape route and is still visible.
Currently, Kanchi Kailasanathar Temple is maintained by Archaeological Survey of India.

Jagannath Temple, Puri
The Jagannath Temple in Puri is a famous, sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Jagannath and located on the eastern coast of India, at Puri in the state of Odisha. The name Jagannath comes from the word Jagat-Nath which means 'Lord of the Universe' (Jagat = world, Nath = Master/protector).
In Jagannath, the ‘t’ becomes an ‘n’ to mean lord (nath) of the universe. and also, the word Jagannatha is evolved from Jagati (Oriya: ଜଗତି) (as an elevated platform or Ratnabedi on which the wooden form of Jagannatha, Balabhadra and Subhadra are worshiped on or the temple or its precincts inside the Narendra Pokhari ) and Natha (Oriya: ନାଥ) (means Lord). Even in the western language, there exists a word 'juggernaut' that means once a person or artifact gets going, it cannot be stopped, thrashing all that comes in its way.
