Kaena Point State Park to Kaneana Cave 3/1/2019. We take you to and into Kaneana Cave (also called Makua Cave) from Kaena Point Start Park. Just be warned this is a 150,000 year old sacred cave with interesting and darker legends. It is very possibly haunted. I should have been scared to go in to this cave but, I had not read about it until after I needed to write a little description of it's history on here. I have chicken skin just thinking about it and as I worked on this video on the computer it creep-ed me out a lot! I encourage you to read the legends and if you dare to read on about some of the scary stories about it.

HIKING HAWAII - Makua Cave (Kaneana Cave)
West side hike on Oahu with beautiful views!!
Location: Upper Makua Cave
82-180 Farrington Hwy
Waianae, HI 96792
Makua Cave is at the end of Makaha almost at Kaena Point. It is a short hike with a lower and upper cave. Parking is located across the street from the cave.
How to Get There:
Take Farrington Highway into Waianae all the way until you see Kaneana State Park on your left. There is a small parking lot for the lower cave BUT don't park there! Sure, stop and check out the lower cave if you want but the upper cave is where you want to be. Drive another 50ft to the speed limit sign and park there. You'll be able to see your car the whole time you're on the trail and less likely to get broken into.
The Trail:
Trail head is easy to find thanks to the Danger Unexploded Ordinance do not enter sign. Hold your breath, say a little prayer and trek on.
The trail forks at the bottom of the hill: follow it to your right and always follow it to the right. The trail continues to the top of the mountain which is great, but remember you're looking for the upper cave which is in the middle of the mountain.

Hike Difficulty: Beginner
Total Time: 1 hour.
Things to Consider
Kid friendly: yes
Pet Friendly: yes
The Waianae side is extremely hot so be sure to bring sun screen. Most of the hike is out in the open until you reach the cave.
This hike has no trespassing signs so hike at your own risk. The trail seems pretty maintained now though.
The grass is high and overgrown in some parts, so you may want to bring long sleeve and long pants if you don't want to get scratched by the branches.
Makua Cave is said to be haunted with a shapeshifting Shark-Man who lures people into the cave. People were forbidden to enter the cave.

We discovered a hidden cave by the side of the road. Kaneana Cave is one of Hawaii's many ancient sacred site. It's located on the South Western coast of Oahu. We were actually drove around the area and found out there's a little hidden gem.

Waianae Neighborhood Community Center to Kaena Point 3/1/2019. Come ride with us from the Waianae Neighborhood Community Center to the end of Farrington Highway where is Ka'ena Point State Park. We have never been there before. At one time you could go completely around the island. Farrington Highway used to continue on to the Mokuleia side of the island until the road eroded away and fell to into the sea making it unusable. Enjoy!

West Side Caves Explored on July 22, 2012.
After fire burned off much of the brush at Keawa`ula we decided to explore the area. We knew there was a cave behind the enclosure and were ready to explore.
Also we found that it looks like there is an inner room/chamber in the Kaneana Cave. But many small rocks will have to be removed to allow a human to slide into it.

HIKING KA'ENA POINT | HIGHLIGHTS | O'ahu, Hawai'i
We ventured out to Ka'ena Point State Park in O'ahu, Hawai'i (North Shore entrance) and thoroughly enjoyed it! This is a quick montage (when I remembered to shoot...sorry, HA!) of our afternoon adventure.
Here's some tips if you decide to go:
* Go early! It gets hot on sunny days.
* Wear and bring sunscreen!
* Bring as much water as you can carry!
* Wear a hat and sunnies!
* Wear good walking shoes!
* Remember to film more footage than I did ;-)
* Be sure to stop and truly take in all the beauty of the trail...from the ocean to the birds!
