I know a lot of this town Minami Dotonbori (Namba, Osaka),
So I introduce pretty much all popular and my favorite restaurant in Dotonbori food street!
There are just so many restaurants in Dotonbori and Hozenji Yokocho, so hope you can watch this video before you travel and you can have an idea before you visit Osaka, Japan????

1. Glico Running man (Dotonbori symbol sign)

Glico Running man sign is right next to Ebisu-bashi, beside the Dotonbori canal (Guided by local, TOP 5 Places where you should take Selfy and photo in Dotonbori Osaka !! #121:

2. Kani Doraku (Giant crab)

It is one of the symbol of Dotonbori. Usually it costs between 5,000 JPY to 10,000 JPY per person.

3. Bikkuri Donkey (Hamberg steak restaurant)

One of my favorite Hmaber steak chain restaurant in Japan.
Even it's a chain restaurant, their hamberg steak is so good !!

4. Botejyu (Okonomi-yaki, Teppan-yaki restaurant)

Okonomi-yaki is a Osaka's soul food, and this restaurant has over 70 years history!!

5. Honolulu coffee

This is a really good place to take a rest in Dotonbori!!

6. Osaka Ohsho

Osaka Ohsho (Gyoza no Ohsho) is a really popular Japanese Chinese food restaurant in Japan.

You can enjoy 3 different kinds of Dango, price is 200 JPY (2 USD)!
It is really good for snack! They have Mitrashi (Sweet soy sauce), Matcha, and Kinako (Soybean powder) tastes !!

13. Kushikatsu Daruma (Man's huge face)

Kushikatsu is traditional Osaka food!
Kushikatsu is a deep fried skewer! Their Kushikatsu is really good!

Antique Ivory Japanese Netsuke - Edo/Meiji Period Zouge

Description

Beautiful antique ivory Japanese netsuke. This netsuke is made of antique elephant ivory (zouge in Japanese) with beautiful striation and ring patterns. Expertly carved and with an impressive luster and sheen, this high quality ivory does have some scratches and scuff marks as evidence of past use and the entire piece wears a darkened patina of age. In the Japanese mind these marks are thought to contribute to the appeal of a netsuke and give the object its sense of character and past utility. The Japanese use the word aji to specifically refer to this quality, which is thought to complete the netsuke as an art object intended for functional, daily use.

This netsuke was acquired in the historic city of Shizuoka, Japan (retirement home of the Tokugawa Shoguns) and dates from the late Japanese Edo period (1600-1868) or early Meiji period (1868-1912). The netsuke comes from the estate of family who were of the samurai class during the Japanese feudal period. Please read below to learn more about Japanese netsuke. More about Netsuke

Where can you place things when wearing a garment that has no pockets? For all its beauty, comfort and style the Japanese kimono has never included a convenient place to store personal items. In the past some Japanese would keep the things they needed in the kimono's vast sleeves or tucked into the folds of their garment. Over time however, in became fashionable and convenient to secure personal items such as money pouches and tobacco kits to the belt-like obi. These items and others were kept in place by tying them with a length of cord to a small polished gourd (hyotan) which could then be passed under the obi and in this way used to keep the attached item dangling conveniently at waist level. Such items became known as sagemono in Japanese which literally translates as hanging things. By the 17th century the gourd had given way to smaller, specially crafted items called netsuke which originally looked like buttons but which over time were adapted to fit a wide range of artistic and personal tastes. Netsuke did often resemble people or animals as well as objects from everyday life or nature.

As an art form the netsuke is largely without a detailed history and pedigree. Though many netsuke were signed, we today know relatively little about the artists or the various schools of influence. This fact means that most netsuke must be appreciated primarily for their intrinsic appeal, as well as for an important feature which the Japanese call aji. Aji may be defined as the effect upon a netsuke produced by it's being used for its intended purpose, namely as a decorated object of daily use. Scuff marks, small scratches and the patina of age together contribute to an netsuke's aji, and provide the finishing touch on one of humanity's most unique, practical and beautiful forms of art and expression.

In India, Oggy and the Cockroaches used to air under its English name on Nickelodeon India since 2009 with the Voice of Mr. Saurav Chakraborty who is better known as the Voice behind Motu Patlu cartoon series.
As of 16 July 2012, the entire Series has re-dubbed with the new voice actor i.e. Mr. SANJAY KENI. This newly dubbed version of the show has begun airing on Cartoon Network India. The names of the cockroaches were also changed on Cartoon Network India: Dee Dee's name is heard as Paplu, Joey's name is heard as Jhaplu and Marky's name is heard as Taplu.

A manga will be released for Jose Rizal in his Birthday

HEADLINES : Jose Rizal manga to be released in time for his birthday

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 16) — A Japanese comic about the life of national hero Jose Rizal, can be read online for free on June 19.

The publisher TORICO, CCC announced in a recent press release that the first few pages of the Jose Rizal manga will be released online for free in English and Japanese on manga.club, and in Japanese on sukima.me. There are plans to release the manga in Filipino.

The manga will have a total of 100 pages that would detail the life of the national hero. New pages will be released every Tuesday.

Takuro Ando, TORICO company representative, said that he was inspired to make a manga about Jose Rizal after seeing a statue of him in Hibiya Park, Tokyo.

I began to wonder why a bronze statue of a Filipino was in Japan, Ando said.

Ando decided to research on Rizal, starting with asking the CEO of a Philippine Company connected with TORICO for more details about his life and the impact that he had not only in the Philippines but around the world.

Japan, too, was affected by the genius of Rizal, who had changed his country not through violence but through his knowledge and hard work, Ando said.

TORICO tapped award-winning artist Ryo Konno to illustrate the manga.

Takahiro Matsui, who had worked in the Philippines and other Southeast Asian countries from 2003-2014, is in charge of writing the storyline.

Philippine national hero Jose Rizal was born on June 19, 1861.

He visited Japan briefly during his travels in the springtime of 1888. He stayed in Yokohama and Tokyo for a month and a half.

True to his playboy image, Rizal fell for a Japanese woman named Seiko Usui.

He had written favorably about the country to his family and to Ferdinand Blumentritt, while lamenting how he was looked at differently for having features of someone who could be mistaken for a Japanese, but the dress sense and mannerisms of a European.

Rizal took great pains to study the Japanese language during his brief stay in the country.
