Kanuma Buttsuke Autumn Festival
I visited the Buttsuke Autumn Festival in Kanuma, Tochigi. A 400 year old festival, it features many beautifully carved floats, called yatai. The yatai were paraded down the street, each one with its own band playing traditional Japanese music.

国指定重要無形民俗文化財、鹿沼今宮神社祭の屋台行事 2011.10.8-9 8.sat 彫刻屋台繰込み繰出し（今宮神社） 9.sun 彫刻屋台・市民パレード 栃木県鹿沼市華麗な彫刻屋台 響くお囃子 今宮神社の例大祭として、旧市内の各所で江戸時代の粋を受けついだ見事な彫刻を配した屋台を引き回します。 土曜日は、午後１時ごろから彫刻屋台が、今宮神社の境内への「繰り込み」を行います。夕方になると彫刻屋台は一斉に提灯に灯をともし、自分の町内へと戻る「繰り出し」を行います。日曜日は、市街地を彫刻屋台が巡回パレードします。両日とも道路の交差点で３～７台の屋台が向かい合って行う「ぶっつけ」と呼ばれるお囃子の競演が見もの！若衆たちの熱気が最高潮に盛り上がります。 栃木県鹿沼市観光物産協会（まちの駅 新・鹿沼宿）℡0289-60-2507）
