Kaoham Shuttle - Lillooet to Seton Portage
If you are going to be in Lillooet on a Friday you are in for a treat
if you PLAN AHEAD and reserve a return seat(s) on the Kaoham Shuttle.
For $10 per person (2014) the Kaoham Shuttle leaves Lillooet at 10:30
am (be there early to confirm your seat but be patient if the train
does not leave on time) for the camera-clicking hour of scenery run up
to Seton Portage. Reservations are a must for those returning to
Lillooet in order to confirm there are enough seats on the run back to
Lillooet. The train scheduled shows a 12:00 noon departure and a 2:30
departure (leaving you time to explore Seton). The 12:00 is scheduled
to arrive back in Lillooet at 1:00pm and the 2:30 at 3:30pm … but be
sure your time is flexible as it could be later.
If you are lucky enough to have Eugene John as the engineer in your
car, as we were, you might just get an impromptu tour filled with
historical tidbits and stops for wildlife, explanations and answers to
your questions along the way. Eugene has been with BC Rail
approximately thirty-four years and is proud to share his knowledge of
the rails, the years of changes and stories of the people who have
lived, worked and died along the route.

This video was taken on August 6, 2016 during our trip to Seton Portage from Lillooet, BC via Kaoham Shuttle. The shuttle costs $10 Canadian per person round trip. The shuttle takes about an hour from Lilllooet to reach Senton Portage. We stayed overnight at Crane's Landing RV Park, which has stationed RV ready to use. All you need to bring with you on the shuttle are food to be cooked, your clothes to change and some entertainment(board game, books). Another alternative accommodation is the Liltem Mountain Hotel.

CN Rail - The Kaoham Shuttle
When the passenger service between North Vancouver and Prince George was discontinue the native bands around Seton Lake were left in the lurch. After some negotiations the Kaoham Shuttle was started as a replacement.
It's the most unique CN passenger service with equally unique equipment.

Duffey Lake Road - Pemberton to Lillooet, BC
It took me about four hours to make the drive from Pemberton to Lillooet and back. Here it is, condensed to about 10 minutes :)
Move over, Rocky Mountaineer: Here comes the Kaoham Shuttle, Canadas greatest hidden rail journey!
The Kaoham Shuttle connects the western canadian towns Lillooet and Seton Portage by travelling across some of the most rugged terrain in British Columbia. For a mere 10 bucks.
Train Journey To Lillooet (1958)
British Columbia, Canada.
Travelogue. We are taken on a train journey through the countryside of British Columbia from Vancouver to the town of Lillooet. Various views from the train are seen. Beautiful snow tipped mountains, old fashioned houses, logging centres, lakes, etc. Driver of the diesel locomotive is seen.
Interior of the train - passengers are seen. One man looks at a map. A waiter walks through the carriage. Group of Native American Indians are seen beside the train. They sing and perform a traditional dance.
More scenic views are seen. Mounties wait for the train to arrive. A group of travellers get off the train - they are all dressed as cowboys and cowgirls which is rather odd. We only get a couple of views of Lillooet.
Three young boys saw and chop wood in a traditional Canadian setting.

20160806 Kaoham Shuttle -waiting for train to pass
This video was taken on August 6, 2016 when we were travelling from Lillooet, BC to Senton Portage. Half way through the trip, the conductor stopped on the side to let CN train passed by. The shuttle shared the rail with CN on most of the section and this is the only place where the shuttle can move on the other rail to let the train pass.
