Kaole is a small town and archaeological site in Tanzania, located three miles east of Bagamoyo on the Indian Ocean coast.
Tanzania - Crumbled Bagamoyo
Bagamoyo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was the capital of German East Africa. It became a trading port for ivory and slave trade. We walked through the ruins of the colonial era, but also saw the town's revitalization.
Only after viewing the clip a few times you see all the nice details of the daily life in an East African town.

The town of Bagamoyo is a home to world class Historical sites and one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites with rich cultural heritage waiting you to explore. Bagamoyo is a quiet village with a few German colonial buildings still standing.

Kaole ruins - Sharifa's Grave
The grave of a Sharifa, claimed to be a direct descendant of Muḥammad, who supposedly healed the sick and interpreted dreams. It is not known if she foresaw her own untimely death at the age of fourteen.

Short History of Bagamoyo
The town of Bagamoyo, Tanzania, was founded at the end of the 18th century. It was (also spelled Bagamojo) the original capital of German East Africa and was one of the most important trading ports along the East African coast. Today the town has about 300,000 inhabitants and is the capital of the Bagamoyo District, recently being considered as a world heritage site.
