Kapoor Baoli, Ramtek | Nagpur
This one of three baolis(step well) in Ramtek.
It is an ancient temple and step well. The correct information is still not available. But as per locals this is close to 1200 years old. The whole place is coming down due to no maintenance at all. Recently Archaeological Survey of India has taken over the charge so it is being restored and developed as a historical site.

Ramtek has got Historic temple of lord Rama. It is believed that Ramtek was the place where Rama, the Hindu god, rested while he was in exile. Legend has it that the aashram of great Hindu sage Agastya was situated close to Ramtek. While the sages performed religious rites, the demons used to disrupt their activities and slayed a great number of holy men. Lord Rama was distressed to hear about this, and took a vow to relieve the world from the demons. 'Tek' means vow in local language, hence the word Ramtek comes from 'Vow of Ram'. Thus it is believed locally that whoever takes a vow at Ramtek is blessed by the gods for its fulfillment. The 'padukas' of Lord Ram are believed to have been worshipped here for centuries.
Ramtek: The place where Lord Rama took a stop during his exile
Ramtek is a city in the Nagpur district of Maharashtra and is famous for the historic Lord Rama temple. It is said that Lord Rama rested in Ramtek for some days during his fourteen-year-old exile. Sage Agastya’s ashram was situated in the mountains of this holy land. During religious activities at the ashram, demons would often come and kill sages. When Lord Rama got to know about it, he got very disturbed and he vowed to eliminate the demons from the world. The word ‘Tek’ means ‘vow’ in local language and it’s at this place that Lord Rama took the vow – hence the name Ramtek. Nation Next takes you on a tour of the holy land!

Hellow guy's,

A Visit to India - Part 25: Ramtek
6th August 2013
We took a bus from Nagpur to Ramtek, which is believed to be the place where Lord Rama, of the epic Ramayana, spent some time during his exile with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman. There is a cluster of 600-year-old temples at the top of the hill, which have been pretty much taken over by the monkeys. One of them tried to grab the plastic bag we carry our umbrellas in.

Ambala Lake At the foothills of the Ramtek Temple is an entity surrounded by the reminisces of Lord Rama and that of Narsimha, the slayer of the demon Hiranykashyapu. The lake was formed after the fierce fight between Lord Vishnu, in his Narsimha Avatar, a half-man and half-lion incarnation, which kills the demon strategically as he keeps Lord Brahma’sbenediction given to Hianyakashyapu intact. It is believed that after killing the demon, Narsimha threw the cudgel of the demon with such force that it formed a huge crater at the foothills of Ramtek Temple, which is now known as the Ambala Lake.
