Kamikochi:Kappa Bridge
Kappa Bridge is a suspension bridge over the Azusa River in the center of Kamikochi, not far from the bus terminal. Several hotels, restaurants, and souvenir shops can be found around the bridge.
The structure of the bridge is wooden and it has become a distinctive symbol of Kamikochi. It inspired the 1927 novel, “Kappa,” by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, in which the narrator and protagonist journeys to Kamikochi only to stray into the mysterious land of the kappa, a quirky race of water spirits from Japanese folklore.
Kappa Bridge is especially popular as a photo spot with a terrific view of the Hotaka Peaks and Mt. Myojindake that can been seen when facing upriver. Looking downriver, one has a good view of Mt. Yakedake, the iconic peak at the entryway to Kamikochi whose smoking crater reminds us that it is a very active volcano. The area around the bridge is home to Kesho Yanagi (a local species of willow) and Japanese larch trees.
Kappabashi: Tokyo's kitchenware paradise
Kappabashi dori is a street between Asakusa and Ueno. It is crowded with shops supplying restaurants and coffe shops with all they need except for fresh food. It is a must go for cooking lovers. You can find everything for your kitchen and great souvenirs ( some examples: Japanese knives, cups, plates, bowls, cooking tools, lunch boxes, keychain food samples, stopper food samples, magnet food samples , flower bins, chopstick, chopsticks wrapper, chopsticks rests and lots more! )If you have time and you are a cooking lover do not miss it!

Adeyto ????????️ Azusa River KAPPABASHI KAMIKOCHI Hotaka Mountain SHINSHU Apple NAGANO Japan Alps
Turquoise River Azusa crystal clear, the Hotaka Mountain Range and Kappabashi wooden bridge are the iconic image of Kamikochi so finally in this video we get to see these in different lights, early morning with ice crystals on the surrounding plant life, sparkling in the warm sun and blue sky and then again in copper tones and scattered clouds. We get to meet a cute ???? birdie doing a crazy boat race on a pond chasing fishes probably, and get to try the famous Nagano Apples baked in Shinshu style that is best at preserving the natural flavor. Kamikochi and all the Swiss style hotels are now already closed down as I'm winter the snow there is huge and all roads closed down too. But in spring they will reopen and come back to life and hopefully we can go again to this hidden gem of the Japan Alps! Easy to get here from Tokyo by Highway Bus, with the Alpico Line for around $65 one way. All hotels are quite expensive starting at more than $200 per person but there are fancy & clean dormitory private beds for around $110 including dinner and breakfast! Also a large camp site and many more options when in season! I can't wait to meet again the kind-hearted staff of my Alpen Hotel who made my stay so memorable!!!

Have you ever wonder where most Japanese restaurants in Tokyo are purchasing those mouth-watering, but fake, sushi and ramen? Well stop wondering since they must have been probably been purchased in one of the many specialized stores in Kappabashi-Dori!
Located between Ueno and Asakusa, Kappabashi-Dori is almost entirely populated with shops specialized in supplying goods and other kitchenwares to Tokyo, and indeed Japan’s, restaurants and cafes.
These stores sells pretty much everything form the fake plastic display food to knives and even ovens and furniture.
To be fair, Kappabashi is not the most exciting tourist destination you may find in Tokyo. Nevertheless it is a place worth checking if you have an hour or two to spare, especially if you’ve ever dreamed of having your very own fake food sample.
Finally while it is still unclear from where this street gets its name, it’s similarity with the Japanese mythical creature “Kappa” or River child (河童) has made it the favorite choice of the shop owners for many years, and a few years back it became the official mascot of the area.
