Karadiyur View Point - Yercaud

The Karadiyur viewpoint is located at a distance of 12 KMs from Yercaud. The view of sunrise as well as sunset from this location is a unique attraction.

Karadiyur was so named on account of the number of sloth bears that one could see around here; today, you will not spot even a single one.

The two options of reaching this viewpoint are either by vehicle on the tar road that takes you there or by trekking through the estates from Kiliyur Falls.

Yercaud is a hill station in Salem District, in Tamil Nadu, India. It is located in the Shevaroys range of hills in the Eastern Ghats. It is situated at an altitude of 1515 metres (4970 ft) above sea level, and the highest point in Yercaud is the Servarayan temple, at 5,326 feet (1,623 m). The hill station is named owing to the abundance of forest near the lake, the name signifying Lake Forest. As a popular tourist destination, Yercaud is also called as Jewel of the South. Yercaud is connected to the city of Salem, Tamil Nadu through a Highway of 28 km. Coffee and citrus fruits, most notably oranges, are grown in abundance, as well as bananas, pears and jackfruit. Scenically, Yercaud is as enchanting and picturesque as the hill stations on the Eastern Ghats and trekking will be an experience.

The total extent of Yercaud Taluk is 382.67 km2, including reserve forest. The entire county is administered as a township. Yercaud also has a village council.

Walk-able distance from Rose garden , but need to climb the steep Rose garden if you choose to walk . Can reach directly by car also. Scenic is Good but the best scenics are at Ladies seat viewpoint and Don Bosco Retreat Church's Viewpoint.

Pagoda Point is another amazing viewpoint in Yercaud. Every viewpoint in Yercaud are amazing with its serene beauty and wonderful lush green cover on hills. It has an elevated structure to get some really beautiful pics.. excellent view of the city of Salem. Would advise going there just before sunset so you can get a day time and night time view.. few stalls around and a public washroom too.
