Camping in Karijini National Park | Most Beautiful Place in Australia
Kairijini National Park has a been a spot we haven't wanted to explore for so long. Every person we come across who has explored this park hands down claims it to be the most beautiful spot in Australia...too bad we had a patch of terrible weather.
After exploring Karijini National Park we make our exit with a quick stop at the Pardoo Roadhouse before arriving in Broome...4700km later.

EXMOUTH TO KARIJINI - The Way Overland - Episode 3
Spending just over a week checking out the Ningaloo Marine Park between Coral Bay and Exmouth, it was time to head northeast to Karijini National Park to explore the amazing red gorges and beautiful (freezing) swimming holes.
The drive there was very scenic, with the dirt becoming more red, and rugged mountains appearing around every corner.
Before heading into Karijini, Mark had to replace some dodgy bolts under the car which were starting to make some noise the day before. Good as new!
Our few days in Karijini were amazing, it’s hard not to relax in a place that beautiful! Although a little colder than we’d anticipated (thermals on for bed), it was still so refreshing jumping in the freezing cold pools in the gorges.
Surprisingly we ran out of time to do a run through of our plans for the trip, though they will definitely be in next weeks video!
On a side note… Jolie meant to say Charles Knife Canyon Road instead of Shothole Canyon Road.

Karijini National Park - Western Australia
Karijini National Park in Western Australia is one of the largest national parks and arguably one of the most spectacular in the State. A visit to Karijini National Park is a must when holidaying in Western Australia and is best accessed by joining a four wheel drive tour from Exmouth, Karratha or Port Hedland.

32. Karijini Eco Retreat, Karijini National Park WA
We only visited the Karijini Eco Retreat but was able to take this video.
Whilst Dales Gorge is almost entirely bitumen road, to access this campground requires significant amount of travel on corrugated dirt road.
To stay here costs $20 per person per night.
We found PARADISE and a nice FREE camp - Karijini Part 1/2 - Ep.61 - Road Trip Australia
One of our favourite National Parks!!
We stayed at the Auski Tourist Village Roadhouse. With temperatures around the 35-38 degree???? mark, we knew we would need some aircon for little Rusty if we were to day trip into Karijini. We settled in and did some washing and did some planning on what we wanted to see. The next day we got up at 5am, gave Rusty???? a quick run, settled her into the aircon and headed off to the Dale’s Gorge’s area.
We made good time, with it only taking us one hour to get to the carpark. We walked down and checked out Circular Pool. Before moving carparks to the Fortescue Falls⛲️ carpark. We thought with school holidays on, the place would be chock a block. Luckily for us, families mustn’t get up early as we had all of the pools pretty much to ourselves. Fern Pool???? was very pretty, along with Fortescue falls & circular pool.
After a nice short dip at each spot, we headed to the Visitors Info centre for a look. Lots of history, displays and facts about Karijini inside. We then checked our watch⏱ for time, and decided to go see one more gorge. Headed down the road we stopped into Kalamima Gorge. A nice hike with some different scenery, but a little disappointing at the end. We grabbed some photos then trekked back up to the car. We made it back to Auski roadhouse around lunch time. Rusty still fast asleep???? on our bed, lapping up the aircon.
The next day, we moved camps to the other side of Karijini. We chose to park the van at a free camp???? just outside of the National Park. We wanted to climb Mt. Bruce, which was only 5kms down the road. That night, we had a little meet up with all our friends again. We had a team campfire???? cookup which was delicious. Roast pork & lamb, potato bake, roast veges, peas and gravy. Finished off with some homemade nutella scones????????.
Us and two other couples decided we would set our alarms for 4:00am and try to make it up Mt Bruce for sunrise????. Up nice and early we all met at the carpark at 4:30am. Most of us walked up the mountain in zombie mode, still half asleep. Unfortunately we just missed sunrise when we made it to the top at around 6:10am. There was lots of cloud cover about, so technically we still saw the sunrise from behind the clouds while we were there????????♂️. We ate some snacks, grabbed some photos and started the decent, as it was bloody freezing up there.
Getting to take in the views on the way down, with the sun up was brilliant. We’re lucky we decided to do it as a group, otherwise we probably wouldn’t of made it up????. We returned to the caravan and just relaxed the rest of the morning. In the afternoon, we decided to head up the road to Hamersley Gorge. Only a short walk from the carpark and you are at the gorge. We climbed up to the upper pool????, which was alot less busy and nicer (in our opinion). This is also where people get the popular ‘spa pool’ shot. We had a splash, grab some photos and headed back to the van for dinner.

This week on How to Get Lost in WA we have finally left Exmouth and its stunning coast to experience an inland National Park, in particular, Karijini National park outside of Tom Price
We nested ourselves at Dales Gorge Campgrounds for 3 days. We choose this perfect campground as it was a short 5 min walking access to Dales Gorge (Fortescue Falls and Fern Pool) which you would be silly not experiencing
Karijini is set for an adventure, with 4wd tracks, gorges galore and a star riched night sky!
watch this video and do yourself a favor and check these amazing places out!

In mid May 2016 Gav and myself set out with our aerial video and photography gear for three nights in the beautiful Karijini National Park in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Gav, a Karratha local and Karijini veteran was my personal tour guide. We explored the gorges, swam the water holes, and drank plenty of beer :) This was the result.
All stills and stars were taken by Gavin Canning. You can see his work at

Exploring Karijini National Park
This footage is from a few jam packed adventure days at Karijini National Park in Northern Western Australia.
Extreme heat, remote conditions and harsh outback hides these beautiful gorges, but once you take the hard trails down to the bottom just to see them from within, it makes the cool waters of the pools even more welcoming!
Karijini has definitely earned a spot in my top 10 places I've been!!
