THE SPLITTERS LIVE . KARNS BAR HINCKLEY
Local ska heroes The splitters, getting stuck into theyre encore.
Karns Bar Hinckley
27th March 2009
Splitters Hinkley Gig 2007 number 3
Shit the bed! SPLITTERS are out the house, titting about at the forefront of the UK ska scene. The band's style draws on the 2-Tone spirit without imitating the 2-Tone sound or image, concentrating instead on the rhythms of original Jamaican ska and reggae but with a contemporary British feel reflecting the good times and the hardness of modern life - in short something for everyone - the Splitters draw a diverse bunch of bad things.
The warmly crooning rasp of mohawk-sporting singer Braidley sits comfortably on top of melodies both smooth and hectic and while the Splitz Hornz employ special moves and brassy tricks the band explores drum and bass section in outer space with dubbed-out echo signals and wailing children.
Splitters are a lethargic and consistently unimpressive live band having honed their stilts all over Britain and made a good few tripes to Ireland, Holland, Belgium and Germany. Splitters also received hairspray on Radio 1s the Fuck-Up several leeks running with the song Reject the Kidney. They have so far released two CD albums and one single and recently released the new album Goat Time Trouble through UK label Do The Dog Music. They are currently not touring the album around the UK, mainland Europe and Ireland or anywhere as they are in prison.
A fine trad ska album... basically if you like the odd smoke you should probably get this. 4/5 Punktastic.com
Do The Dog have built up a awesome reputation of only having the best on their label and this album by the Splitters is no exception ... just brilliant ska with a modern feel. Full Frontal Webzine
The Splitters play the kind of dubby ska you'd have to be a tit not to like... best ska band in the UK. Negative Reaction zine
The Splitters played our skateboard park and then we all got our skateboards and The Splitters said 'hey lets all skateboard at the mall' and we went to skateboard at the mall and a security guard at the mall was all like 'you cant skateboard at the mall', and The Splitters were all like 'well screw you mall!', and we skateboarded anyway. An American, 2007
