Ibaraki prefecture of Japan / 茨城県
Ibaraki Prefecture / 茨城県 is a prefecture of Japan located in the Kantō region on Honshū island. The capital is Mito.Ibaraki is known for natto, or fermented soybeans, in Mito, watermelons in Kyōwa (recently merged into Chikusei), and chestnuts in the Nishiibaraki region.
Ibaraki is famous for the martial art of Aikido founded by Ueshiba Morihei, also known as Osensei. Ueshiba spent the latter part of his life in the town of Iwama, now part of Kasama, and the Aiki Shrine and dojo he created still remain.
There are castle ruins in many cities, including Mito, Kasama, and Yūki.
Kasama is famous for Shinto and art culture and pottery.
The capital Mito is home to Kairakuen, one of Japan's three most celebrated gardens, and famous for its over 3,000 Japanese plum trees of over 100 varieties.

Hello mga kababayan, ito ang una naming vlog. Halina at samahan nyo kaming lakbayin at libutin ang Fukuoka, Hiroshima, at Iwakuni Japan sa loob ng apat na araw.
For the first part of this trip, nilibot namin ang Fukuoka 90% by walking around the city and 10% by train/bus since medyo malayo yung ibang lugar. Hindi siya advisable gawin kung may kasama kayong medyo may edad na pero isa ito sa mga paraan para makatipid kayo sa trips or travel nyo sa Japan. I consider Fukuoka as one of the most walkable cities in Japan since halos lahat ng tourist spots dito is within 1 kilometer to more or less 10 kilometers lang ang layo. If may kasamang bike yung makukuha nyong airbnb, better.
Kung mahilig kayo sa ramen kagaya ko o nangangarap kayong makakain sa Ichiran, Fukuoka is the place to be. Dito nag originate ang unang branch ng Ichiran and ito ang birthplace ng tonkotsu or pork bones ramen.
Kung gusto nyong ma-experience ang Japan pero gusto nyo is chill vibe, this is the perfect city to start. Ika nga dito satin sa Pinas, ito ang probinsya-feels ng Japan. Unlike Tokyo or Osaka na favorite cities ng mga turista at bakasyonista, sa Fukuoka halos wala kang makakasalubong na turista making it way less crowded than the aforementioned cities.

Sunday Longplay - Castlevania: The Holy Relics (CV1 NES Hack)
IPS Patch:
Time for another ROM hack this week on Sunday Longplay! This time it's a Castlevania 1 hack from Optomon (who also made Chorus of Mysteries, another hack I really should check out sometime) called Castlevania: The Holy Relics.
This game employs several gameplay changes over the original game, including being able to play the first 5 stages in any order, kind of like in Mega Man, and also another set of subweapons in the form of the titular holy relics, allowing you extra powers like killing everything on the screen at once, making your whip extra powerful for a period of time, restoring your life, or even dropping down from the top of the screen. I like it!
It's also worth noting that Dracula is not the final boss! It's actually a necromancer and old acquaintance of Drac named Lord Ghulash, who had been searching the ruins of Dracula's castle for the titular relics and had been using them to terrorize Transylvania.

Sunday Longplay - Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom (NES)
This week on Sunday Longplay, it's time to finish up an infamously-difficult trilogy on the NES with Ninja Gaiden 3: The Ancient Ship of Doom! The American NES version was actually made much harder than the Japanese Famicom version, with only 5 continues instead of unlimited like in the first two games, and enemies dealing much more damage. The Japanese version also had a password system that the American version did away with.
This game is actually an interquel, taking places after the events of Ninja Gaiden 1, but before the events of Ninja Gaiden 2: The Dark Sword of Chaos. After stopping the resurrected demon at the end of the first game, a Ryu Hayabusa look-alike confronts Irene and sends her falling off a cliff into the water, presumably killing her. The real Ryu vows to get to the bottom of the case and clear his name. When he reaches the lab that Irene was investigating before his doppelganger killing her, he runs into a man named Clancy who directs him to the Castle Rock Fortress to learn the truth. Along the way, he runs into his nemesis from the ending cutscene of Ninja Gaiden 1 who ordered his death over Irene's comm device, CIA Director Foster. Upon finally arriving at Castle Rock Fortress, Ryu learns from Clancy about project Biohazard that Foster had been working on to use life energy from the ruins of Castle Rock Fortress to create creatures called Bio-Noids, super humans transformed by life energy. Before Ryu can confront Foster and his own bio-noid clone, Irene resurfaces, very much alive. After fighting his clone, Ryu learns that Clancy had just used both Ryu and Irene to reclaim the ruins of the fortress. Ryu chases Clancy into the subspace dimension created by the resurrected demon from the first game and fights his clone again, now even more mutated by the life energy. After vanquishing his clone again, Ryu confronts Clancy again, himself mutated by the energy, as he learns the ruins of the fortress are actually a dimensional warship that Clancy intends to use to wipe out mankind and start fresh. Ryu traverses the titular ancient ship of doom and engages Clancy, now completely absorbed by life energy, for the final time to save mankind from complete annihilation.

2018年10月27日(土)～28日(日)、JR東日本の企画乗車券｢週末パス｣を利用して諏訪･伊那地方の旅をした2日間の記録です。
2018年10月27 日(土)1日め、No.30高遠城(長野県伊那市)を訪れました。
2回めの訪城、#日本100名城 スタンプラリー99城めです。

前編は、JRバス高遠駅から本丸までの映像です。
初めての訪城は100名城に選定される前の夏でした。いつか桜の季節に訪城しようと考えていたのですが、なかなか実現できず訪城までに時がかかってしまいました。
桜は実現できませんでしたが、ちょうどもみじ祭りの初日ということで、露天などがたくさん出ていて賑わっていました。また、新そばまつり会場の高遠閣では、新そば(有料)をいただきました。紅葉は色づき始めたぐらいで、これからといったところでした。

My Friend Irma: Aunt Harriet to Visit / Did Irma Buy Her Own Wedding Ring / Planning a Vacation
My Friend Irma, created by writer-director-producer Cy Howard, is a top-rated, long-run radio situation comedy, so popular in the late 1940s that its success escalated to films, television, a comic strip and a comic book, while Howard scored with another radio comedy hit, Life with Luigi. Marie Wilson portrayed the title character, Irma Peterson, on radio, in two films and a television series. The radio series was broadcast from April 11, 1947 to August 23, 1954.
Dependable, level-headed Jane Stacy (Cathy Lewis, Diana Lynn) began each weekly radio program by narrating a misadventure of her innocent, bewildered roommate, Irma, a dim-bulb stenographer from Minnesota. The two central characters were in their mid-twenties. Irma had her 25th birthday in one episode; she was born on May 5. After the two met in the first episode, they lived together in an apartment rented from their Irish landlady, Mrs. O'Reilly (Jane Morgan, Gloria Gordon).
Irma's boyfriend Al (John Brown) was a deadbeat, barely on the right side of the law, who had not held a job in years. Only someone like Irma could love Al, whose nickname for Irma was Chicken. Al had many crazy get-rich-quick schemes, which never worked. Al planned to marry Irma at some future date so she could support him. Professor Kropotkin (Hans Conried), the Russian violinist at the Princess Burlesque theater, lived upstairs. He greeted Jane and Irma with remarks like, My two little bunnies with one being an Easter bunny and the other being Bugs Bunny. The Professor insulted Mrs. O'Reilly, complained about his room and reluctantly became O'Reilly's love interest in an effort to make her forget his back rent.
Irma worked for the lawyer, Mr. Clyde (Alan Reed). She had such an odd filing system that once when Clyde fired her, he had to hire her back again because he couldn't find anything. Useless at dictation, Irma mangled whatever Clyde dictated. Asked how long she had been with Clyde, Irma said, When I first went to work with him he had curly black hair, then it got grey, and now it's snow white. I guess I've been with him about six months.
Irma became less bright as the program evolved. She also developed a tendency to whine or cry whenever something went wrong, which was at least once every show. Jane had a romantic inclination for her boss, millionaire Richard Rhinelander (Leif Erickson), but he had no real interest in her. Another actor in the show was Bea Benaderet.
Katherine Elisabeth Wilson (August 19, 1916 -- November 23, 1972), better known by her stage name, Marie Wilson, was an American radio, film, and television actress. She may be best remembered as the title character in My Friend Irma.
Born in Anaheim, California, Wilson began her career in New York City as a dancer on the Broadway stage. She gained national prominence with My Friend Irma on radio, television and film. The show made her a star but typecast her almost interminably as the quintessential dumb blonde, which she played in numerous comedies and in Ken Murray's famous Hollywood Blackouts. During World War II, she was a volunteer performer at the Hollywood Canteen. She was also a popular wartime pin-up.
Wilson's performance in Satan Met a Lady, the second film adaptation of Dashiell Hammett's detective novel The Maltese Falcon, is a virtual template for Marilyn Monroe's later onscreen persona. Wilson appeared in more than 40 films and was a guest on The Ed Sullivan Show on four occasions. She was a television performer during the 1960s, working until her untimely death.
Wilson's talents have been recognized with three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame: for radio at 6301 Hollywood Boulevard, for television at 6765 Hollywood Boulevard and for movies at 6601 Hollywood Boulevard.
Wilson married four times: Nick Grinde (early 1930s), LA golf pro Bob Stevens (1938--39), Allan Nixon (1942--50) and Robert Fallon (1951--72).
She died of cancer in 1972 at age 56 and was interred in the Columbarium of Remembrance at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood Hills.

Words at War: Ten Escape From Tojo / What To Do With Germany / Battles: Pearl Harbor To Coral Sea
The Battle of the Coral Sea, fought from 4--8 May 1942, was a major naval battle in the Pacific Theater of World War II between the Imperial Japanese Navy and Allied naval and air forces from the United States and Australia. The battle was the first action in which aircraft carriers engaged each other, as well as the first in which neither side's ships sighted or fired directly upon the other.
In an attempt to strengthen their defensive positioning for their empire in the South Pacific, Imperial Japanese forces decided to invade and occupy Port Moresby in New Guinea and Tulagi in the southeastern Solomon Islands. The plan to accomplish this, called Operation MO, involved several major units of Japan's Combined Fleet, including two fleet carriers and a light carrier to provide air cover for the invasion fleets, under the overall command of Shigeyoshi Inoue. The U.S. learned of the Japanese plan through signals intelligence and sent two United States Navy carrier task forces and a joint Australian-American cruiser force, under the overall command of American Admiral Frank J. Fletcher, to oppose the Japanese offensive.
On 3--4 May, Japanese forces successfully invaded and occupied Tulagi, although several of their supporting warships were surprised and sunk or damaged by aircraft from the U.S. fleet carrier Yorktown. Now aware of the presence of U.S. carriers in the area, the Japanese fleet carriers entered the Coral Sea with the intention of finding and destroying the Allied naval forces.
Beginning on 7 May, the carrier forces from the two sides exchanged airstrikes over two consecutive days. The first day, the U.S. sank the Japanese light carrier Shōhō, while the Japanese sank a U.S. destroyer and heavily damaged a fleet oiler (which was later scuttled). The next day, the Japanese fleet carrier Shōkaku was heavily damaged, the U.S. fleet carrier Lexington was critically damaged (and was scuttled as a result), and the Yorktown was damaged. With both sides having suffered heavy losses in aircraft and carriers damaged or sunk, the two fleets disengaged and retired from the battle area. Because of the loss of carrier air cover, Inoue recalled the Port Moresby invasion fleet, intending to try again later.
Although a tactical victory for the Japanese in terms of ships sunk, the battle would prove to be a strategic victory for the Allies for several reasons. Japanese expansion, seemingly unstoppable until then, was turned back for the first time. More importantly, the Japanese fleet carriers Shōkaku and Zuikaku -- one damaged and the other with a depleted aircraft complement -- were unable to participate in the Battle of Midway, which took place the following month, ensuring a rough parity in aircraft between the two adversaries and contributing significantly to the U.S. victory in that battle. The severe losses in carriers at Midway prevented the Japanese from reattempting to invade Port Moresby from the ocean. Two months later, the Allies took advantage of Japan's resulting strategic vulnerability in the South Pacific and launched the Guadalcanal Campaign that, along with the New Guinea Campaign, eventually broke Japanese defenses in the South Pacific and was a significant contributing factor to Japan's ultimate defeat in World War II.
