In this episode, we will spend the day with KASHIWA Daisuke, a musician and composer based near Tokyo.

First, we will head to Hino, located in the Tokyo suburbs to the big temple complex Takahata Fudoson.

KASHIWA, having lived just behind the complex for a few years, used to often come here to have a walk alone or with his kids, to pray or find inspiration for his music looking at the buildings and nature.

A few minutes away from there, we will head to Fureai bridge, which also was a regular stroll for KASHIWA.
While he was struggling with composition on his album « 88 », KASHIWA mentions he would also come to look at the river and think about his approach to music.

A few years ago, the animation movie director Makoto Shinkai liked this same album and asked KASHIWA to rearrange it as the soundtrack of the movie « The Garden of Words ».

In the second part of the episode, we will head to Yoshida Fish Farms, a shop specialized into Japanese goldfishes and koi carps, as well as tropical fishes and plants.

Since he was little, KASHIWA loved to build aquariums, which he qualifies as “small universes”. He compares this to his way to make music by assembling various elements and to create such universes in his work.

New Zealand PM Ardern and Japan PM Abe Exchange Rugby Jerseys in Tokyo

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe met in Tokyo, Japan, Thursday, September 19, to discuss further cooperation between the two nations.

It's the first visit by Jacinda Ardern to Japan as the country's prime minister.

Her visit coincides with the Rugby World Cup opening game between New Zealand's national team and South Africa in Yokohama on Friday.

After the talks Thursday morning, the two leaders said they discussed expanding ties over trade, security, environmental effort and tourism.

Ardern and Abe exchanged rugby balls and named jerseys as they wished each other luck ahead of the World Cup opening. (AP)

This elevator has a beautiful acoustic chime. The OIOI Department Store in Kashiwa originally opened on the 29th September, 1973.

The videos from Japan this time, in 2019 (Greater Tokyo 3-10.6, Osaka & Kobe 10-12.6, Kyoto 12-14.6 and Nagoya 15.6) will be published with time (probably until the Autumn), as there are more than 800 videos to be published (including the two Finnair direct flights from Helsinki-Vantaa to Tokyo-Narita and back as well as several Shinkansen Train trips, on the Narita express (with the Japan Rail Pass and older local trains).

Rugby World Cup: All Blacks get sandy in Beppu

The All Blacks have had a day off at the Rugby World Cup in Japan - making way for some much needed down time between games.

Coach Steve Hansen - a former policeman himself - played copper for the day when he was made honourary police chief of the city of Beppu.

While some of the players went for a round of golf, others checked out the famous black sand bath on Beppu beach.

Rugby reporter Joe Porter caught up with front rowers Joe Moody and Codie Taylor to find out how they're coping with the heat - and how the sand bath went.

Players from the New Zealand national rugby union team participated in an event organised by their government in Tokyo on Sunday to thank you to their Japanese hosts for their hospitality during the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

The event was called 'New Zealand says 39', with the number having a phonetic pronunciation ('san-kyu') which closely resembles the English 'thank you.'

All Blacks players Joe Moody, Jack Goodhue, Jordie Barrett, George Bridge, Shannon Frizell and Brad Webber, appeared at the event, where they hung out with Japanese fans, and participated in a Q&A.

Actor Jamus Webster, who was also a part of the event to promote Kiwi culture, said: Sharing our culture to the people of Japan has been such an amazing experience. We've been learning ourselves about the similarities that we have with the Japanese culture and it's all about manaakitanga or the hosting of guess.

New Zealand's next match is scheduled for October 3, when they'll face Canada at the Showa Denko Dome in Oita.
