EXPLORING ISLAND of NAXOS & the SPECTACULAR PLAKA BEACH (GREECE) ????️
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go visit the beautiful beach of PLAKA which can be found in the spectacular Greek island of Naxos in Greece. What used to be just a nudists' beach is now one of the most popular beaches of Naxos, retaining bits of its original character. It is still a favourite beach for nudists, who flock mostly off season but it also gathers families and couples, especially during high season, which “forces” the nudists to segregate off to the one end, towards the south of this long and splendid beach. Its main characteristic is the long and wide, white expanse of sand and the turquoise water.
The beach of Plaka extends for approximately 4 kilometres making it a very long beach. Only parts of it are organised so there are umbrellas and sun-beds along its considerable length. During high season it is quite busy but still quitter than Agios Prokopios or Saint George beach. There are so many things to do at Plaka beach that, according to its fans, you can spend the entire day there and never feel bored.
Naxos is a Greek island in the South Aegean, the largest of the Cyclades island group. Its fertile landscape spans mountain villages, ancient ruins and long stretches of beach. The namesake capital (also called Hora or Chora) is a port town filled with whitewashed, cube-shaped houses and medieval Venetian mansions. Kastro, a hilltop castle dating to the 13th century, houses an archaeological museum.
Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it's often called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.

The Island Of Dionysus
Did you Know ? The name Cyclades refers to the circle around the sacred island of Delos.
Naxos is blessed with some of the finest beaches of the Aegean!!
The Terrace of the Lions in Delos was made with the white marble from Naxos greece !!
The Temples of Tragaia have been characterized as the Small Mystras for the incalculable historical and aesthetic value !
Additional info:
Pyrgaki is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches of Naxos that reflect the peace and serenity of the island. It is located in the southwestern coast of the island at a distance of 18 km south of Chora.
The beach is frequently affected by the winds, so it is a nice spot for windsurfing. The shallow waters are a great advantage for children and the small forest areas form an unusual scenery. Driving south, the peripheral road of Chora will end at Pyrgaki. Other lovely beaches in the area are Sahara, Kastraki and Mikri Vigla.

Above Mikri Vigla - Naxos,Greece
A fusion of stunning nature, stone, sunlight and sparkling sea, Naxos lies on the center of Cyclades. Naxos is an island of mythology and ancient history. It has exercised a powerful charm to the Aegean culture since ancient times. It was the birthplace of one of the Mediterranean's most important civilizations, the Cycladic Civilization. Aegean Sea in Greece is known world-wide for the pure and admirable beaches and Naxos testifies by all means that reputation. Fertile by nature, Naxos has a great reputation also in agriculture. Traditional farms and stables, dairy production units, wine yards, olive tree forests and many more can be found across the island in a picturesque background where the rocky mountains blend into the fertile valleys and the Cycladic architectural villages. On the South - West part of Naxos lays one of the most beautiful beaches of the Aegean Sea, Mikri Vigla. Endued by nature, Mikri Vigla is famous for the golden sand that goes into the crystal-clear blue waters of the Aegean Sea. Untouched by mass tourism has maintained the sweet symmetry of the traditional Cycladic architecture combined in harmony with the wild beauty of the coastal landscape. The cape of Mikri Vigla constitutes a rare geological phenomenon due to the unique cedar-tree forest, one of the few in the world but also because of its archeological wealth. Ancient inscriptions and messages, engraved over the wind-beaten hillsides, transport the visitor back in time and unfold the pages of history. On both sides of Mikri Vigla's cape lay incomparable beaches that transpire different charms, and content the desires of guests. On the North side you will find the bay with the isle of Parthena surfacing in the middle and giving an outstanding landscape. The North beach is more suitable for sports as it is world-wide known for the Meltemi wind that appeals to windsurfers, kitesurfers and sportsmen of any kind for many years. On the South side lays one of the longest and of unique beauty beaches not only in Naxos but in Cyclades in general. Shallow but also deep crystal-clear waters fading in the endless sandbanks of the beach embrace gently the indefinable shaped rocks of Mikri Vigla cape creating a natural safe harbor for small boats.
Due to its natural beauty, Mikri Vigla is a small paradise in Naxos, ideal for relaxing holidays in Greece. Holidays in Naxos means both relaxation and entertainment combined with nature surrounded by friendly and homely atmosphere.

Naxos is a Greek island in the South Aegean, the largest of the Cyclades island group. Its fertile landscape spans mountain villages, ancient ruins and long stretches of beach.

It has a number of beaches, such as those at Agia Anna, Agios Prokopios, Alikos, Kastraki, Mikri Vigla, Plaka, and Agios Georgios, most of them near Chora. As other cycladic islands, Naxos is considered a windy place perfect for windsurfing, as well as kitesurfing. There are seven sports clubs in the island that offer both of these sports and other water activities.
Naxos Island | Cyclades | Greece
Naxos: In the heart of Cyclades, in the heart of Aegean, Naxos has, always, followed the destiny of adventure of residents of Aegean. This destiny is interwoven with travel, exchanges, new techniques and pioneering ideas, but also with wars and conflicts over the hegemony of sea.
Everything is big - imposing -, compared with the rest of Cyclades islands. The extent of the island is 435 sq. km and the length of coasts 91 km.
The form is an ellipsoid and with a mountainous volume from North to South across the island.
In the backbone of this ridge dominate Za Mountain (1004 m.) and Fanari (908 m.) the highest in Cyclades.
The landscape of the island has many rotations. Plains succeed barren areas, marble mountains lead in deep shadowed glens, areas with vegetation host all white villages and sandy beaches meet the sea.
The coastline of the island is almost straight and not forming large natural harbours, which affected the occupations of residents from the ancient years. In the island from end to end beautiful and clean coasts are situated next to small solitary coves. The ground of island is blessed and provides self-sufficiency to life of this place.
The rich aquifer of Naxos offers drinking water to wells and streams of the island. The fertile land produces citrus fruits, olives, fruits, vegetables, potatoes Naxos specials and amazing wine.
Livestock-farming and the apiculture are particularly developed and offer exceptional quality meats, milk, cheeses and thyme honey.
From geological aspect the subsoil presents great interest because of the presence of emery, of marble and granite that are exploitable products. The rocks constitute solidly foundations of Naxos and make the island stable against earthquake.
In this imposing and big island of Cyclades, where mountainous volumes dominate, with the highest altitudes in the Aegean, - with the highest peak of Cyclades, the top of Za (1004 m.) - immediately gives a sense of security and stable, in this turbulent marine state of Cyclades.
Naxos itself is a whole universe.

Panagia Drosiani Naxos - Church Of Drosiani Naxos
Located 2.5km north of Halki, just below Moni, the small, peaceful Panagia Drosiani is among the oldest and most revered churches in Greece. Inside is a series of cavelike chapels. In the darkest chapels, monks and nuns secretly taught Greek language and religion to local children during the Turkish occupation. Several frescoes still grace the walls, and date from the 7th century.
