Katale Khor Cave, Zanjan - Iran
Katale Khor (Persian: کتله‌خور,Azerbaijani: کتله خور) is a cave located in Zanjan Province, Iran. It is situated 120 km south of Zanjan city and is about 410 km from Tehran. The name, Katale Khor, means mount of the sun. Geological studies in 1984 showed that the cave formation dates back to the Jurassic period. It is believed that the cave is connected to Ali Sadr Cave in Hamadan province. The road from Zanjan to Khatale Khor passes Soltaniyeh, an ancient Ilkhanid city, The cave was discovered about 90 years ago.

زنجان یا زنگان مرکز استان زنجان و شهرستان زنجان در شمال غربی ایران که در منطقه آذربایجان واقع شده‌است.
نام زنجان عربی‌شده واژه زنگان است. مردم منطقه هنوز هم تلفظ زنگان را به کار می‌برند. شهر زنجان در دره زنجان چای (از شاخه‌های قزل‌اوزن قرار گرفته و سر راه شوسه و راه‌آهن تهران به تبریز می‌باشد. صنایع دستی از قبیل ورشوسازی و نقره‌سازی و ملیله کاری و چاروق‌دوزی و چاقوسازی و فرش‌بافی (فرش زنجان) آن مشهور است.
زنجان از شمال به شهرستان طارم و خلخال و میانه و از مشرق به سلطانیه و طارم و از جنوب به خدابنده و ایجرود و از غرب به شهرستان ماه‌نشان محدود است و از سطح دریا ۱۶۶۳ متر ارتفاع دارد.
غار کتله خور غاری است خشکی -آبی که در استان زنجان، شهرستان خدابنده ودر بعضی مناطق غربی ایران به کوه کم ارتفاع کَتَله می‌گویند و احتمالاً وجه تسمیه این غار نیز همین است که در یکی از این کوه‌ها قرار گرفته‌است و خورشید از پشت آن طلوع می‌کند و به جای کتله خورشید به آن کتله خور می‌گویند.
یک نکته جالب توجه در رابطه با غار کتله خور این است که شواهد و بررسی‌های انجام شده مؤید این موضوع است که غار کتله خور در نهایت به غار علیصدر در همدان متصل می‌شود. همچنین یکی دیگر از عجایب و زیبایی‌های این غار تعدد طبقات آن است که اینگونه غارها در جهان بسیار کم‌نظیر هستند. گمان می‌رود که این غار دارای ۷ طبقه باشد که البته تاکنون تنها ۳ طبقه آن کشف شده‌است.

Zanjan is the capital of Zanjan Province in Iran. It lies 298 km (185 mi) north-west of Tehran on the main highway to Tabriz and Turkey and approximately 125 km (78 mi) from the Caspian Sea. The city is located about 20 kilometers south of the Qaflankuh Mountain Range. At the 2016 census, its population was 521,302 which is the 20th largest city in Iran. The population of Zanjan consists mostly of Iranian Azeris who can also speak the Azerbaijani language.Zanjan is 21733 square kilometers.
Zanjan is known for its beautiful handcrafts such as knives, traditional sandals, called charoogh, and malileh, a handcraft made with silver wires. Zanjani artists make many things like various decorative dishes and their special covers as well as silver jewelry. In ancient times, Zanjan was known for its stainless and sharp knives. But this tradition is gradually becoming extinct by introduction of Chinese-made knives into the market which are far cheaper, more abundant and less artistic[citation needed]. Many villagers today are traditional carpet weavers, perhaps Zanjan's most popular handcraft.

Iran The World's Largest Water Cave
The Ali Sadr Cave (Persian: غار علی صدر) originally called Ali Saadr or Ali Saard (meaning cold) is the world's largest water cave which attracts millions of visitors every year. It is located Ali Sadr Kabudarahang County about 100 kilometers north of Hamedan, western Iran (more accurately at 48°18'E 35°18'N). Since the cave is situated between the large cities Hamadan, Tehran, and Qom it is a popular destination for Iranians. Tours of the cave are available by pedal boats.
Cave located in 75 km north of Hamedan in western Iran .The cave belongs to second Jurassic period (130-190 million years ago); its walls can extend up to 40 meters high, and it contains several large, deep lakes. The cave has a river flowing through it and traveling through the cave is mostly done by pedal boats. Ali Sadr cave is situated between the large cities in Hamedan, Tehran and Zanjan making it a popular destination for Iranians and foreign tourists.
The cave was originally discovered during the reign of Darius I (521-485 BC) which can be verified by an old inscription at the entrance of the tunnel. Knowledge of the cave existence there have been within local residents for centuries, however, its exploration as a natural attraction was in 1963. It is opened to public from 1975 to now.
In the summer of 2001, a German/British expedition surveyed the cave to be 11 kilometers long. The main chamber of the cave is 100 meters by 50 meters and 40 meters high.
A tour of the cave can be seen by pedal boats to a centrally located large atrium.

Nakhcheer نخچير or Chal-Nakhjir چال نخجير is a cave situated in Markazi Province استان مركزي of Iran.
It is a limestone cave approximately 70 million years old. Parts of the cave including its internal lake have been prepared for easy tourist access. It was discovered in 1989 and registered as a national monument in 2001. Its interior is made of crystals, dolomite sediments, stalactites and stalagmites.

Soltaniyeh, located some 240 kilometres (150 mi) to the north-west of Tehran, was built as the capital of Mongol Ilkhanid rulers of Iran in the 14th century. Its name refrreig the Islamic ruler title sultan translates loosely as the Regal.
In 2005, UNESCO listed Soltaniyeh as one of the World Heritage Sites. The road from Zanjan to Soltaniyeh extends until it reaches to the Katale khor cave.
William Dalrymple notes that Öljaitü intended Soltaniyeh to be the largest and most magnificent city in the world but that it died with him and is now a deserted, crumbling spread of ruins.
