A sacred crocodile pool that some people believe increase fertility of women. It's based in Bakau in The Gambia and costs 100 Dalasi (less than 2 pound) to enter.

Kachikally Crocodile Pool in Bakau, The Gambia was discovered hundreds of years ago by the natives of Bakau, it is some 14km (8 miles) from the capital Banjul, and is home to more than 100 crocodiles. All of which prefer the taste of fish to flesh. This video shows views of the crocodile pool, as well as a prank that was played on one onlooker. Watch this video to the end as the guy who gets a prank played on him screams like a girl.

SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit the Kachikally crocodile pool which is located in the heart of Bakau, Gambia, about 10 miles (16 km) from the capital Banjul. It is one of three sacred crocodile pools used as sites for fertility rituals. The exact number of crocodiles is not known but it is estimated that there are about 80. It was long claimed that all the animals are Nile crocodiles (Crocodylus niloticus), but research suggests they are a different species, namely the West African crocodile (Crocodylus suchus). Crocodiles are allowed to roam freely, and can be approached and touched by visitors.
The Gambia is a small West African country, bounded by Senegal, with a narrow Atlantic coastline. It's known for its diverse ecosystems around the central Gambia River. Abundant wildlife in its Kiang West National Park and Bao Bolong Wetland Reserve includes monkeys, leopards, hippos, hyenas and rare birds. The capital, Banjul, and nearby Serrekunda offer access to beaches.

The Kachikally Crocodile Pool is in a 9 acre site in the southern section of Bakau Old Town, Kombo St. Mary District of The Gambia, and is 12 km to the west of the Banjul capital city. The complex also has a museum of ethnography, a mini-forest nature trail, a souvenir shop and a refreshments bar. There is also car parking space just outside the front.

Kachikally Crocodile Pool, Bakau The Gambia, standing really close to some gigant crocs, hiding for the burning sun. The area is somewhat hidden in a urban area, easily found though when simply asking around. No entrance fees, just some locals who want to earn a buck by showing you around in a non pushy way. Go with the flow, it will make you feel a bit more safe standing so close to these killer animals. Enjoy a Julbrew afterwards..
