2019 Sandymount Wren yesterday: 2000 yr Irish tradition LIVES ON!
Featuring MC Peter Hannon, Pat McEvoy, John and the Creedons from Sandymount, and Michael Lacey on banjo.
The 35th year of the Wren in Sandymout saw great singers and dancers gather once more on St Stephen's day to celebrate this 2000 year old Irish tradition, which proved a welcome antidote to the rampant consumerism sweeping the country as crowds of people queued through the night for a discount on Wifi enabled kettles.
The Jobber from Clare
Another song from the popular album Where the Allow Waters Flow. CD can be purchased on Claddagh Records
Isle of Innisfree
Singer: Frankie O'Shea of Tralee, Co Kerry. Music: Oileán from Tralee. Recorded on Sunday 13th May 2012 at the final Session in the bar of the Earl of Desmond Hotel on the outskirts of Tralee at the inaugural Sweets of May set dancing weekend. [NB: the unavoidable background noise was from a group of French tourists]
The Pride of Tralee Town
This is a rare gem of song about a lass from Tralee in the Co Kerry.
It is sung here by a father and son who are from Co Kerry and they are Paudie and Declan McCauliffe. This is not just for the Kerry followers but for anyone who loves the joy of Irish music will surely enjoy this number.
Happy listening
