Life of a University student in Belgium can be just a little bit different than anywhere else in the world! Today I'll take you with me on my day as a Japanology student at KU Leuven, Belgium's oldest university in a beautiful traditional Belgian town!
Belgian Universities might not have entrance exams but while getting in is easy, staying there is incredibly difficult! Let me show you how a normal day in my life at KU Leuven looks like and how I got through 3 years of its demanding curriculum!!

We chatted with a few of the many newly arrived international students taking part in Orientation Days, the university's programme of events designed to help students get settled in Leuven, learn the ins and outs of university life and get to know each other.
DAY IN MY LIFE in Leuven, Belgium
HELLO beautiful souls! As you know, I am currently studying in the quaint little college town of Leuven, Belgium. Study abroad is not all traveling and having the time of your life…a lot of it does actually consist of studying, and getting over being sick, and just binge watching Netflix. Here’s a typical day in my life on a lazy Saturday. This weekend I was just catching up on work, getting over a cold, and having some much needed downtime. Everything mentioned in the video is below!
WHAT I ATE
Breakfast: yogurt bowl with Harvest Moon coconut yogurt, @munch.abunch chai spiced almond butter, apple, and granola
Lunch: vegan mac n cheese
1/2 butternut squash cubed
3 cloves garlic
1 cup non dairy milk
1 cup veggie broth
salt & pepper
nutritional yeast (for topping at the end)
INSTRUCTIONS: put everything into a stock pot and simmer until the squash is tender then either blend with a blender/immersion blender
Snack: tahini oat date cookie
10 dates, 1/2 cup oats, 2 tbsp tahini and some peanut butter if you'd like :) blend in a food processor and freeze!
NATURAL SUPPLEMENTS/TRICKS TO STAY HEALTHY WHILE ABROAD
1. REST!! Get as much sleep as possible
2. WATER!! Drink so much water. I try to drink at least one bottle every hour. I also drink a whole lot of tea.
3. Amazing Grass greens powder/ lots of dark leafy greens
4. Limit gluten, dairy, and sugar (obviously alcohol, too)
5. ginger, garlic, oranges
6. Echinacea (in capsule form or in cough drops)
7. Royal green Immune & Energy capsules
8. Sambucol Immune Forte + Vitamin C + Zinc
9. if your throat hurts, a throat spray with propolis in it is wonderful
