A hidden gem in NZ, Katiki Point Lighthouse
We drive down the east coast of the south island. Along the way to Dunedin we stop by this lighthouse with seals and awesome views. An absolutely beautiful place, must see.

These endangered penguins live in boroughs near the ocean. They spend all day hunting for food and return to their baby penguins in the evening. You can hear the hungry babies calling for their parents.

R孟來畫畫｜新西蘭 南島 Katiki Point Lighthouse 免費觀賞 世界上最稀有的黃眼企鵝 procreate
Katiki Point Lighthouse是個觀賞稀有 黃眼企鵝以及海豹的好地方。
黃眼企鵝目前被視為瀕臨絕種的動物，是世界上最稀有的企鵝之一。
因為這裡是能最近觀察黃眼企鵝的地點，距離Moeraki Boulders莫拉奇大圓石只有約10~15分鐘的車程，所以有安排大圓石的行程的朋友，也可以順便安排看黃眼企鵝唷！
一天有兩個時段是黃眼企鵝出現的最佳觀賞時間，一個是早上9點前黃眼企鵝出海捕魚去時，一個是下午3點~4點多(日落前2小時) 黃眼企鵝捕魚歸巢時。
他們築巢的性格和其他企鵝大不同，總是將巢穴的位置築在高處的草叢中，所以每次回家的路總是崎嶇漫長。
由於黃眼企鵝是一種喜歡獨居的企鵝，出海時可能會三五成群，上岸時是單獨行動，不會成群出現。
這裡的風很大，有來這裡觀賞野生動物務必做好保暖，特別是冬天，圍巾，帽子和手套完全不可少。
這裡與野生動物間的距離至少要有10公尺，以不打擾他們生活為優先。
因為海豹海獅海狗是兇猛動物，最好還是輕聲細語比較好，是說那時候為了拍攝，還被海獅怒氣白眼！（超級驚恐的～嚇
這裡的開放時間：7：30am～7：30pm，由於紐西蘭地大，拉車路途較長，最好抓好觀賞的時間，不然都難逃開夜車的狀況發生！

[Up Close] Yellow Eyed Penguins and Fur Seals at Katiki Point Lighthouse, New Zealand
One of the highlights in Southern New Zealand is Katiki Point Lighthouse. At Katiki Point Lighthouse you get to see wildlife Endangered Yellow-eyed penguins, little penguins and fur seals, up close and personal.The best time to view yellow-eyed penguins is from 3 pm to sunset, while they return from the sea, or at sunrise when they head out.

Katiki Point is home to New Zealand fur seals and Yellow-eyed penguins, along with many other coastal species. It is cared for by volunteers who have created a sanctuary for penguins. They optimize the habitat, maximise breeding success and survival and minimize disturbance. They need $20k per year to do this work so a donation of $5 pp is appropriate. The donation box is by the gate. The reserve is open from 7:30am to 7:30pm. Visiting outside this time creates stress on the penguins and in the past, has cost the lives of chicks so please respect this. Do not use a flash on your camera and do not go closer than 5 m to the wildlife. Retreat if they move towards you.
