Exploring Katsuoji Temple, Mino Japan; 勝尾寺
We love walking through this place for the nature and sounds.
Katsuo-Ji-Temple, Minoh, Osaka.
Katsuo-ji is famed as a temple of winning luck. Originally named for curing the Emperor's illness, Katsuo-ji has been visited by rulers throughout history to pray for victory in battles. The Winning Daruma is seen as the symbol of the temple, and can be used to pray for success in business, exams or job seeking. First, you write your wish on the base of the Daruma and the things you'll do over the year to try to achieve the wish on the back, and pray in the temple building. An incense stick is lit while praying to convey thanks to everyone who helps us in life. The incense smoke passes the Daruma, and finally you paint in the right eye. You then take the Daruma home, display it in a prominent position and try to fulfill your wish.

While it's a little difficult (meaning you have to schlep up a huge hill for a km or so if you're not in a car) to get to, Katsuoji is well worth it. There are hundreds of Daruma dolls left around the temple grounds by people looking for luck and I had such a great time exploring here. Definitely worth going during autumn as well as the leaves here are beautiful!

Đôi nét về chùa Katsuo-ji
Tương truyền hơn 1100 năm trước, vào khoảng năm 880 sau công nguyên, khi Thiên Hoàng thời bấy giờ lâm trọng bệnh, người ta đã cầu nguyện cho Người sớm bình phục tại ngôi chùa này và lời cầu nguyện đã trở thành hiện thực. sau khi khỏi bệnh, Thiên Hoàng đã đặt tên cho ngôi chùa này là Katsuo-ji (Thắng Vương Tự). Nhưng sau đó, từ Thắng Vương bị cho là phạm thượng, nên đã đổi tên ngôi chùa thành Thắng Vĩ Tự nhưng cách đọc vẫn là Katsuo-ji. Đây là ngôi chùa được mệnh danh là chùa may mắn, nên có rất nhiều người đã đến đây, cầu xin được thành công trong nhiều lĩnh vực như kinh doanh, buôn bán, thi cử, thể thao, nghệ thuật, tình yêu, chính trị, bầu cử.
Phương tiện di chuyển, kết hợp ghé thăm công viên Minoo
Nếu đi đến địa điểm chùa Katsuouji từ Osaka thì sử dụng Hankyu Minoo Line đến ga Minoo với thời gian khoảng 30 phút. Sau đó đi bằng taxi thêm 15 phút là đến chùa. Có chuyến Hankyu Bus 29 Keito từ ga Senri-chuo thuộc tuyến Chikatetsumidousuji Line đi đến Katsuo-ji với khoảng 31 phút. Nhưng vì số lượng chuyến xe rất ít, du khách nên tham khảo trước khi sử dụng. Ngoài ra, từ ga Saitonishi thuộc Osaka Monorail, di chuyển bằng taxi khoảng 10 phút.
Nếu du khách có thời gian, hãy kết hợp thêm chuyến tham quan công viên Minoo. Từ ga Hankyu Minoo đi vào khoảng 400 m sẽ đến được cổng của công viên. Bên trong công viên, có nhiều lối đi bộ, điểm đáng xem nhất là khu vực Minoo Otaki, nằm cách cổng vào 2,4 km. Tiếp đó là con đường dẫn đến ngôi chùa Katsuo-ji nối công viên với khoảng cách 3 đến 3,5 km.
Thời điểm hoa anh đào của mùa xuân và lá đỏ của mùa thu luôn thu hút được nhiều khách du lịch đến viếng thăm. Tại chùa Katsuouji, du khách còn có thể ghé vào nghỉ chân, thư giãn tại các quán cà phê tự phục vụ.

A short detour to Minoh Falls while we were heading to Katsuō-ji Temple in Osaka.
We were invited by our good friend Ryubun Kojima, 2019 President of JCI Osaka and the newly Elected 2020 JCI World Executive Vice President.
Minoh Waterfall isn't a big waterfall but still beautiful. The hike is also very light, ideal for families & elderly. Surprisingly we met with a fellow JCI member who is a store owner in Mino Park. What a coincidence as one of his staff recognised my shirt with JCI logo on it.
It is great to be a jaycee, you have friends everywhere.
Then we head out to our main destination which is Katsuō-ji Temple. Upon arriving the Temple, through the scenic route, we were greeted warmly by the head monk ( Ryubun san). We were astonished at how beautiful the temple is, surrounded by mountains, trees and water. We were told that in autumn, the temple is one of the most visited place in Osaka due to its beautiful autumn colours. I cannot imagine how beautiful it is in autumn as it is already amazing in summer.
We had the opportunity to put our goals & prayers on the Daruma Dolls, had a brief history of the temple as well as why Katsuō-ji is one of the most respected temples in whole of Japan. Such an honour & uplifting experience.

The power begotten by prayer at this temple was said to exceed even that of the Imperial Court. Emperor Seiwa (859-876) thus named it Katsuo-ji : Temple that Wins against Monarchs.
It followed that rulers through the ages, including the Genji clan and the Ashikaga clan, came to pray for the luck to make them victorious. Eventually, people directed their faith toward this temple to allow them to “win” in life. With
the “Winning Daruma (tumbling doll),”your prayers to combat illness and be successful in examinations, elections, sports, art, business, and all your challenges, will be granted at Katsuo-ji Temple.

Exploring Minoo Park, a quasi-national park in Japan just half an hour from Osaka. Beautiful, natural Japan - a complete contrast to the city!
Minoo Park (Mino / Minoh Park) is a country park less than 30 minutes from Osaka by train. A perfect day trip and a place to spend a relaxing few hours walking in the countryside. There's a fairly easy trail alongside a river, with shrines, temples, and cafes with Japanese street food and it ends at Mino Falls, a stunning 33m waterfall. The area's famous for maple leaves, which are stunning in the autumn colours. I tried momiji tempura, a local speciality: fried maple leaves!

Best Autumn Leaf Spots In Osaka - Minoh Park (Minō/Minoo) and Kyuanji Temple
The best places to see autumn leaves in Osaka are at Minoh (aka Minō or Minoo) Park and Kyuanji Temple in Ikeda. You also have the added benefit of the famous Minoh Waterfall as a backdrop against the picturesque Japanese maple leaves. Both of these places make a great day-trip from Osaka city.
