Katsushika City's Iris Festival is held at two locations, Horikiri Shobuen Iris Garden and Mizumoto Park. Horikiri Shobuen Iris Garden has been known as one of the notable sights in Tokyo for a long time since the Edo period. The beauty of iris flowers in the garden has often been expressed by major artists, such as Hiroshige Ando and Toyokuni Utagawa,in their Nishikie (color woodblock prints). In the garden, approximately 6,000 iris plants of 200 varieties are growing to delight the eye of visitors. Mizumoto Park is located alongside a large irrigation pond and is the only park in Tokyo that offers seasonal views of waterside nature. In this season, about 14,000 iris flowers of 80 varieties in the park come to their full bloom. Many entertaining events are also held during the festival such as live music performance, so do not forget to check their schedule before you go

The Japanese Iris Fields in Kiyosumi Gardens (清澄庭園 花菖蒲田)
Japanese Iris grows in the wet land and is the most extensively cultivated variety in Japanese gardens. According to the place where it was cultivated, it is classified into the Edo (Tokyo), Higo (Kumamoto Prefecture), Ise (Mie Prefecture), American (U.S.A.) and other series.
In Kiyosumi Gardens, there is a view that this garden was the site of the residence of the famous Edo Period business magnate, Kinokuniya Bunzaemon. In later years (1716 to 1736), it became the location of the Edo residence of the Lord of Sekiyado castle, Shimofusa-no-kuni (part of present day Chiba) and this is the period when the basic form of the garden came into existence.

After Leaving Koiwa Shobuen iris garden,I also visited Horikiri Shobuen iris garden(you can see Horikiri Shobuen iris park in signage which shows the way to the garden in Horikiri town) to see and to shoot flowers of iris. You can enter the garden for free and this garden is run by Katsushika ward, Tokyo. Flowers of iris in this garden are well treated and they seemed to fully bloom. If you visit this park now, you can enjoy seeing a mass of colorful beautiful flowers. If you want to go there, you should get off the train on Keisei line(京成線) at Horikiri Shobuen station and you have to walk about 700 meters to reach the garden. I got the train bound for Ueno station at Takasago station on Keisei railway line and got off the train at Horikiri Shobuen station. This is the first time for me to go this garden,I love it. I could have wonderful moment in this garden where are full of flowers of iris. It was so impressive.
