Kawagoe (川越) is located about 30 minutes by train on Tobu Railway from central Tokyo and is a wonderful day trip destination!

Take the Tobu Express train from Ikebukuro Station(Tojo Line Express to Ogawamachi)
Kitain Temple
One of the most important temples in the Greater Tokyo area, Kitain Temple, is one of Kawagoe's main attractions! It is famous for its main hall, which was part of the original Edo Castle, and the statues of 540 Rakan, disciples of the Buddha. It is also known informally as the Kawagoe Daishi. I visited during the sakura season and enjoyed the spring decorations and cherry blossoms!
Lunch at Kappo Kawashima (Traditional Japanese Cuisine). The food is delicious and you dine in a private room! You can make a reservation here:
Hikawa Shrine
The Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine is said to be approximately 1500 years old and is where five deities are enshrined: Susanoo no Mikoto, Kushinadahime no Mikoto, Ashinazuchi no Mikoto, Tenazuchi no Mikoto, and Oonamuchi no Mikoto.
With two sets of deities that are regarded as married couples, the shrine has been historically worshiped for matrimonial happiness, happiness in the family and the deity of matchmaking.

Its main street, lined with Kurazukuri (clay-walled warehouse-styled) buildings, retains an ambiance reminiscent of an old town from the Edo Period (1603-1867). Visiting feels like stepping back in time to imagine the streets from past centuries. Because of this, Kawagoe became known as Little Edo.
Roman Sabo Umon Café (Japanese Tea & dessert). I always recommend trying the desserts that are in season and special to the time of year you are there.

If you are traveling to Tokyo, I sincerely suggest you take a day trip to Kawagoe. If you visit during the fall or spring, you are super lucky!

Japanese love shrines and fortunes at Hikawa Shrine in Japan Kawagoe 川越 . It's a brand new year and we took a day trip from Tokyo to Kawagoe 川越 to see Hikawa Shrine Saitama 氷川神社one of the most beautiful shrines.
Hikawa Shrine 氷川神社 is a Shinto shrine in Kawagoe 川越, Saitama Prefecture, Japan located in a traditional countryside town in Japan.
For New Year's day in Japan many visit a Japanese shinto shrines. We went to Hikawa Shrine, a shinto shrine in Japan where they specialize in love. Love shrines in Japan are fairly common but this is a famous love shrine in Japan. Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine is a marriage shrine in Japan.
Visiting a Japanese shrine on New Year's Day or visiting a Japanese temple on New Year's Day are some things to do in Japan for New Year's. At Hikawa shrine, there are many japanese shrine rituals that you can do to promote love and marriage. Don't forget to get your japanese fortune told before you leave! I went to Hikawa shrine (川越氷川神社 ) in Kawagoe (川越). Hikawa shrine (氷川神社 ) is a famous popular love shrine in Japan and a popular shrines in Japan for being a power spot in Japan. Ikebukuro (池袋, [ikebɯkɯɾo]) is a commercial and entertainment district in Toshima, Tokyo, Japan. Toshima ward offices, Ikebukuro station, and several shops, restaurants, and enormous department stores are located within city limits.
At the center of Ikebukuro is the train and subway station, a huge urban gathering shared by the JR East lines, the Seibu Ikebukuro Line and the Tōbu Tōjō Line. It is one of the main commuter hubs in the western Yamanote area of Tokyo. Ikebukuro Station is the third-busiest station in Japan, and the world.
Around the station are the Seibu and Tōbu department stores. Seibu, written with the characters for West and Musashi (province) 西武, is on the east end of the station and Tōbu, written with the characters for East and Musashi 東武, is on the west end. East of the station, on the site of Sugamo Prison, stands Sunshine 60, which was Tokyo's tallest building at the time of its construction. The Sunshine 60 contains a large and popular shopping mall, which contains various attractions including an aquarium, a Pokémon Center, and cat cafes. Adjacent to Sunshine City, on Meiji-Dori, is the Toyota Amlux Building which houses the Toyota showroom. Otome Road, a leading shopping area for otaku products aimed at women, is located nearby. Marui and Don Quijote also have department stores in the area. The principal electronics retailer in Ikebukuro is Bic Camera. There is a small pleasure district located in Nishi-Ikebukuro, similar to Shinjuku's Kabukichō.
The old village of Ikebukuro stood to the northwest of the station. Most of the area on which modern Ikebukuro is built was historically known as Sugamo. In the Taishō and Shōwa periods, the relatively low land prices attracted artists and foreign workers, who lent a somewhat cosmopolitan atmosphere to Ikebukuro. Until October 1, 1932 when Toshima ward was established, the area was an independent municipality of Ikebukuro-mura (池袋村).
The kanji for Ikebukuro literally means pond bag. Outside the west exit of Ikebukuro station near an entrance to the Fukutoshin Line is a small plaque explaining how the area used to have multiple lakes, hence the name.
There is a small statue of an owl located near the center of the city called Ikefukurō-zō (いけふくろう像), meaning pond owl statue. It is a play on words from the alternative meaning of fukuro as owl (although owl is pronounced with a long final oh, rather than a short o in the word fukuro for bag). The owl statue has become a famous meeting place along the lines of the statue of Hachikō located outside Shibuya Station.

Ikebukuro is home to many ethnic Chinese who arrived in the 1980s, leading to a variety of Chinese goods and services being provided in the district, which are popular among tourists interested in Chinese culture. ในญี่ปุ่นจะมีงานเทศกาล ประจำเมือง ประจำจังหวัดในทุกๆปี ปีละ 1-2 ครั้ง โดยมากจะเป็น ช่วงฤดูร้อน (Natsu Matsuri 夏祭り) สมัยก่อนนั้นชาวบ้านทำการเกษตร ก็ออกมาขอพรพระเจ้าให้พืชพันธุ์ ธัญหารสมบูรณ์ และ ช่วงฤดูใบไม้ร่วง หลังจากเก็บเกี่ยวพืชผลกันเสร็จแล้ว ก็ขอบคุณพระเจ้าที่ทำให้ได้ผลผลิตงอกงาม แต่ในปัจจุบันคนส่วนใหญ่ไม่ได้ทำการเกษตรเยอะเหมือนสมัยก่อน แต่ชาวเมืองก็ยังคงอนุรักษ์ธรรมเนียมประเพณี โบราณนั้นไว้อยู่เช่นเคย ... ไปดูกันคะว่างานจะเป็นอย่างไรซึ่งอาจจะมีการประยุกต์ให้เข้ากับ ยุคสมัย ปัจจุบัน แต่ยังคงไว้ซึ่งวัฒนธรรมอันดีงาม ควรค่าแก่การจดจำ
