Gion Shinbashi is Kyoto's most famous geisha district, located around Shijo Avenue. Shimbashi street is from Kamo river in the west to Yasaka shrine in the east. It is also parallel to Shirakawa river and crossed. It is filled with restaurants and ochaya (teahouses), where geiko (Kyoto dialect for geisha) and maiko (geiko apprentices) entertain.
This area is designated Groups of Traditional Buildings of Japan.

Formerly the capital of Japan, Kyoto’s rich cultural and religious history is preserved as it was over 1,000 years ago. This beautiful, historic city and prefecture makes the top “must-see” lists in travel books and magazines every year. Over 2,000 religious sites are scattered across the city, most of them in perfect condition as Kyoto was spared from air raids during World War II. One of the most famous temples in Japan and a popular sightseeing spot is the Temple of the Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji). In honor of the vegetarian lifestyle of the monks and priests working at the prefecture’s many temples and shrines, Kyoto fare has developed over the centuries to spotlight local heirloom vegetables. Kaiseki Ryori, a traditional Japanese multi-course haute cuisine, originated from this culinary tradition. In contrast to Tokyo’s fast-paced and modern vibe, Kyoto is elegant and refined. To fully enjoy it visitors should slow down, savor, ponder and stroll.

京都市 6日連続で38度超える2018/07/19 最高気温39.8度 Kyoto city 6 days in a row 38 degrees over
京都市では2018年7月19日現在、6日連続で38度を超え観測史上初めてです。京都では1994年8月8日に39.8度を観測していますので今日は観測史上、タイ記録となりました。京都では2018年7月16日の一日の平気気温は32.5度でした。ちなみに2018年7月19日現在、今年最高の40.7度の最高気温が観測された岐阜県多治見市では、その日の平均気温は32.2度でした。暑さ指数は、気温、湿度、輻射熱の3要件で決定されます。気温だけでは暑さは分かりません。平均気温も暑さの大事な要素です。

In Kyoto city as of July 19, 2018, it is the first time in observation history exceeding 38 degrees for six consecutive days. Since Kyoto has observed 39.8 degrees on August 8, 1994, today it became a tie book on the history of observation. In Kyoto the average temperature on the day of July 16, 2018 was 32.5 degrees. Incidentally, as of July 19, 2018, the average temperature of that day was 32.2 degrees in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture where the highest temperature of 40.7 degrees this year was observed. The heat index is determined by three requirements: temperature, humidity, radiant heat. I do not know the heat by just temperature. Average temperature is also an important element of the heat.

【岐阜ぶらり旅5】長良川へ
2016年5月下旬に、名古屋から岐阜に移動して駅周辺をぶらり旅！
パート5では、御手洗の滝・日中友好庭園を見学した後、鵜飼で有名な長良川を眺めます。その後、うかい観覧船のりばと若き日の織田信長銅像を見てバスに乗って岐阜駅へ！
長良橋から見上げた岐阜城天守閣は小さ見え、あそこに登ったんだと達成感が後からジワジワやってきました♪

雨の中、霧に包まれた竹田城跡に行きました。
虎臥山山頂に雄大に広がる数多くの石垣、圧倒的な存在感を持っています。
霧の中の竹田城は幻想的でした。
