Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, United States, North America
Pittsburgh is a city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the United States, and is the county seat of Allegheny County. As of 2017, a total population of 305,704 lives within the city limits, making it the 63rd-largest city in the U.S. The metropolitan population of 2,353,045 is the largest in both the Ohio Valley and Appalachia, the second-largest in Pennsylvania, and the 26th-largest in the U.S. Located at the confluence of the Allegheny, Monongahela, and Ohio rivers, Pittsburgh is known both as the Steel City for its more than 300 steel-related businesses and as the City of Bridges for its 446 bridges. The city features 30 skyscrapers, two inclined railways, a pre-revolutionary fortification and the Point State Park at the confluence of the rivers. The city developed as a vital link of the Atlantic coast and Midwest, as the mineral-rich Allegheny Mountains made the area coveted by the French and British empires, Virginians, Whiskey Rebels, and Civil War raiders. Aside from steel, Pittsburgh has led in manufacturing of aluminum, glass, shipbuilding, petroleum, foods, sports, transportation, computing, autos, and electronics. For part of the 20th century, Pittsburgh was behind only New York and Chicago in corporate headquarters employment; it had the most U.S. stockholders per capita. America's 1980s deindustrialization laid off area blue-collar workers and thousands of downtown white-collar workers when the longtime Pittsburgh-based world headquarters moved out. This heritage left the area with renowned museums, medical centers, parks, research centers, libraries, a diverse cultural district and the most bars per capita in the U.S. Today, Google, Apple Inc., Bosch, Facebook, Uber, Nokia, Autodesk, and IBM are among 1,600 technology firms generating $20.7 billion in annual Pittsburgh payrolls. The area has served as the long-time federal agency headquarters for cyber defense, software engineering, robotics, energy research and the nuclear navy. The area is home to 68 colleges and universities, including research and development leaders Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh. The nation's eighth-largest bank, eight Fortune 500 companies, and six of the top 300 U.S. law firms make their global headquarters in the Pittsburgh area, while RAND, BNY Mellon, Nova, FedEx, Bayer and NIOSH have regional bases that helped Pittsburgh become the sixth-best area for U.S. job growth.
In 2015, Pittsburgh was listed among the eleven most livable cities in the world; The Economist's Global Liveability Ranking placed Pittsburgh as the first- or second-most livable city in the United States in 2005, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2014. The region is a hub for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, sustainable energy, and energy extraction.

The university also includes four undergraduate schools located at campuses within Western Pennsylvania: Bradford, Greensburg, Johnstown, and Titusville. The 132-acre Pittsburgh campus has multiple contributing historic buildings of the Schenley Farms Historic District, most notably its 42-story Gothic revival centerpiece, the Cathedral of Learning. 1-25-2019 Connellsville, PA from the Youghiogheny River Bike Trail N., Geese, & x-country skiing
After work on January 25, 2019, I decided to cross country ski on the Youghiogheny River Trail (part of the Great Allegheny Passage), which connects Pittsburgh to Cumberland, Maryland. There the C & O Canal Trail begins and goes to Washington DC. This night, I wasn't sure if there would be enough snow to ski on. I looked around, discovered lots of interesting art, and a gaggle of aggressive geese that appeared suddenly in a park (I had passed just before). I heard them fly away just after passing the park a 3rd time to begin the cross country skiing. I skiied about 5 miles, but since I had to film with my phone, and it was dark or getting dark then entire time I skiied North and Back (5 miles total), most of the movie is before the actual skiing. The sunsets on the Youghiogheny River are always so serene and beautiful, especially in winter. The temperature ranged from 25 degrees to 19 degrees Farinheit (-4 to -8C )

This is the movie (mixed time lapse and real time of the April 2017 Pittsburgh Kayakers Meetup on Ten Mile Creek). We paddled 12 miles in 3 hours including lunch. Along the way we encountered many nesting geese, went into a tunnel to see a beautiful creek on the other side, had lunch, and heard the sound of trains passing. I love trains when I am kayaking. the put in was third Street and chartiers road in Mather, pa.
North Park Lake Kayaking and gathering wild apples from kayak (8/2017)
This was an evening kayak trip I took in early August 2017 at North Park Lake. I collected the best apples I've ever tasted by knocking them off the tree that was growing sideways across the lake near the boathouse. I then fished them out of the water put them in my kayak, took them home and ate them. The abundant precipitation this summer produced more wild fruit than I have ever seen in my life. The sunset is always amazing on North Park Lake, especially with the old Boat House in the Background (kind of looks like a stone castle)

I Found the BEST SPOT!! Incredible Pike Fishing
Floating an unfamiliar river for some super aggressive pike. I searched around for a while, and then found one of the best pike holes I've fished in a while!
Fly rod: 9' 8wt Orvis Clearwater rod (4 piece)
Reel: Waterworks‑Lamson Liquid Fly Reel 3.5
Line: 8wt scientific anglers fly line, 20lb tapered flouro leader with a 20lb RIO wire tippet.
Rod/reel setup:
-Quantum Octane 6'6 medium heavy action rod with an Abu Garcia silver max and 30lb braided line, connected to a 27lb 9 steel leader.
***The rod and reel I was using is a cheap setup, and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. I only use it at the river in case something happens, I'd rather break that than an expensive rod/reel.
