Exploring Gdańsk. Things to do in the Baltic City.
We spend the day exploring Gdansk, a city in northern Poland near the Baltic sea. We start the day spending a couple of hours at the Museum of the Second World War. We then hit up a restaurant with some of the best Pierogies in the city, Dumpling Mandu. Finally we take a walk through Old Town visiting the Golden Gate, the Long Lane, Long Market and the Green Gate, making our way to the Motława River.

GDANSK:
A very important port for nearly a thousand years; this city was destroyed in the Second World War, but was later rebuilt and became one of the most amazing destinations in Europe. Indeed, Gdansk has become one of Europe’s most beautiful port cities. Currently, Gdansk has around 460000 inhabitants and is Poland’s largest northern city. Among its many landmarks; the historic city center, museums, and beaches that spread along the coast of the Gulf of Gdansk make it a great destination for summer.
The Museum of World War II:
The museum grounds cover almost 2.5 acres, while the building covers 26,000 square meters. The building is very pointedly divided into three spheres, which reflect the connection between the past, present, and future: the past — the underground, the present — the square surrounding the building, the future — the leaning tower with the glass façade and ceiling reaching up to 40.5 meters. The tower houses, for instance, a library with a reading room, lecture and conference rooms, and will eventually be home to a café and a restaurant on the top floor with a panorama of Gdańsk.
All kayak lovers are invited to 15, Żabi Kruk Street. At that place you can rent a kayak to visit Gdańsk from a slightly different perspective. You may follow one of several routes.
Golden Gate:
Built in 1612, the Golden Gate was designed by Abraham van den Block, son of the man behind the decoration of the Upland Gate. It's a sort of triumphal arch ornamented with a double-storey colonnade and topped with eight allegorical statues.
Long Market
The focal point of Długi Targ, the Long Market, is the Neptune Fountain, a bronze statue of the sea god erected in 1549 and converted to a fountain in 1633 and restored in 2011/12. During WWII, this symbol of Gdańsk was dismantled and hidden with many of the city's other treasures. It was only returned to its rightful place in 1954.
Green Gate:
Długi Targ is flanked from the east by the Green Gate, marking the end of the Royal Way. It was built in the 1560s on the site of a medieval defensive gate and was supposed to be the residence of the kings.

So our tour (that was specially made for us) started in Malbork that is outside of Gdansk. We went on the Nogat river down to Biala Gora which is a floodgate and then up the Wistula river to the city Tczew. This is also called “Zulawy loop cruise”. We had an amazing day and I will tell you all about it.
THE 3IN1 POLISH CITY - Gdansk, Sopot & Gdynia
In January I flew over to Gdansk in Northern Poland for a week to explore the famous tricity, consisting of Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia. I booked a really fantastic airbnb, in the heart of Gdansk, costing just £15 a night inclusive of our own private sauna!
Next we travelled over to the seaside part of the tricity, to the resort town of Sopot. Staying at the Mera Spa hotel we enjoyed outside jacuzzi's... yes I know crazy at -7! As an English guy I found the prospect of snow on the beach unbelievable - i'm told this is normal... I also witnessed europe's longest pier, half a km long and built over 100 years ago, quite the stunner!
We concluded our trip back in Gdansk, staying at the hilton looking over the gorgeous city. Due to the coldness the river was frozen over, which was strange seeing boats frozen in the water. The 2nd Most Important City in Poland
I took a short trip to Krakow, the second most important city in Poland on my way to Lviv in Ukraine. I wasn't planning on going to Krakow, but because of flights to Kyiv selling out, I had to find another way to get there, and what better way than to go to another country for a couple of days?
I had never been to Krakow, and hadn't actually heard much about it apart from it's a place where stag do's go to get really drunk, and also people go to make it a base to visit Auschwitz. I wasn't planning on doing either, so I didn't really know what I was going to do.
I ended up walking into the centre of Krakow, wandering around for a bit and checking some stuff out and then heading over to the Jewish Quarter known as Kazimierz, which is a nice area.
I usually take some shots of churches on my trips, and Poland was no different as there were many churches in Krakow, but this time I got to check out some Synagogues in the Jewish part of Krakow which was nice to see.
I enjoyed walking around Krakow in winter time, wandering through the Christmas markets, trying kielbasa from a street vendor, but it was very cold - but not as cold as I was going to be the next day when I arrived in Lviv in Ukraine - god was that a cold place.
The accommodation I chose to stay in whilst in Krakow was pretty good - it was a studio apartment right next to the city centre, but not too close that I could hear everything. The one downside to the apartment was the bed - I had two bad sleeps in that attempt of a bed.
Anyway, enjoy my video from Krakow, the second most important city in Poland. Krakow used to be the capital until about 1600 when it changed to Warsaw.
