kayaking in Fishguard, Wales, UK
3 hour kayaking on windy day in Fishguard with Mayberry kayaking. Wasn't able to see the seals or caves due to the weather but they took us to another coastline nearby which was sheltered from the wind but with plenty of waves! Had an amazing time and took us out of our comfort zone on the big waves.

UK Trip 2 - Awakening 3 Dragons in Wales
Part 2 of my UK trip, things developed quickly. I found myself in Fishguard on the solstice, the 21st of December assuming I would just have breakfast and drive 4hours to Reading. With a suggestion from a friend on Twitter and a few synchronicities I found myself driving up the Welsh mountains and then climbing Carn Menyn in search of King Arthur's grave. In arriving at the peak I found three mounds of stones, I was aware that three dragons were sleeping there and required work to awaken.

Family Sea Kayaking in Pembrokeshire
When you get together as a family you want that time to be special, to be memorable and perhaps a little challenging but it’s difficult to find someone that you can trust to look after you and your children.
Here at Mayberry Kayaking, we provide an active and fun family day out for you and your family in an unspoiled, beautiful part of the UK; the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Our years of experience will keep you safe in what can be a harsh environment and with the double sea kayaks you will be safe in the knowledge that your little ones are right in front of you and not being taken anywhere that you are not comfortable with.
We also know that you don’t want to fall in and so we won’t make you. The double sea kayaks are nice and wide, which means they are really stable and less likely to capsize. In fact, it is so unlikely that, if you do capsize, I’ll give you your money back! I’ll say that again…
If you accidentally capsize in a double sea kayak I’ll give you your money back
Join one of our guides who’s job it is to look after you and ensure you see lots of wildlife like curious seals on secluded beaches and birds of prey hovering above the towering cliffs; you’ll discover hidden caves, some that go all of the way through and you’ll have lots of time to explore the many rocky outcrops of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, riding small waves through narrow gaps.
You’ll be able to go and see some amazing places such as;
Needle Rock
The Witches Cauldron
Suicide Cave
Cathedral Cave
Dinas Head
The Guilletine
Family days out are available every Saturday and Sunday from 1st May to 30th September as well as daily throughout school holidays.
Road Tripping the coast of Wales
After playing a touchtennis event in Cirencester (where I made the semi-finals!), Craig and I set off to embark on a road trip around Wales.
This was our itinerary:
Day 1 - Started off at Conwy Castle, then just drove about a bit hitting up Nant Gwrtheyrn, Porth Oer and as far west as we could get near Uwchmynydd for sunset.
Day 2 - Took the train up Mount Snowdon, then pottered about in Snowdonia for a bit, before heading to Portmeirion, ending the day at Caernarfon Castle.
Day 3 - Driving day. Heading south from our hotel in Caernarfon, hitting up Harlech Castle, Mwnt and Stackpole Quay.
Day 4 - Back to the Stackpole Quay car park to walk up to Barafundle Bay and beyond. Then off to St Davids to visit Bishop's Palace and St Davids Cathedral.
Day 5 - Quick trip to Carreg Cennen Castle, before hitting the Gower. Rhossili Bay, Worms Head, Bishopston Valley, Langland Bay and Caswell Bay all ticked off. Then headed to Caerphilly Mountain as it was near our accommodation.
Day 6 - Flying visit to Caerphilly Castle before hitting the M4 and the joys of the long road home.
We had a great time, and would definitely like to go back to do some of the awesome activities we saw in the areas (zip lining, kayaking etc).

Slideshow of Carreg Cennen Castle
One of the most spectacularly sited Welsh Castles is Carreg Cennen, located north of Swansea, a few miles south-east of Llandeilo on a minor road off the A483. Spell-binding views are waiting to be experienced from the sharp hilltop upon which the castle sits. Indeed, Carreg Cennen dominates its surroundings, and seems out of place in the mountainous farming terrain which it commands. The hedgerows along the minor approach road initially obscure views of the site, but suddenly the grey stone fortress springs into your line of sight, enticing you to hurry onwards.
The story of Carreg Cennen Castle is a long one, going back at least to the 13th century. There is archaeological evidence, however, that the Romans and prehistoric peoples occupied the craggy hilltop centuries earlier (a cache of Roman coins and four prehistoric skeletons have been unearthed at the site). Although the Welsh Princes of Deheubarth built the first castle at Carreg Cennen, what remains today dates to King Edward I`s momentous period of castle-building in Wales.
The most exciting feature at Carreg Cennen Castle awaits exploration at the south east corner of the inner ward. Here a steep set of steps leads down past a postern gate into the bowels of the castle, and beyond into a damp limestone cave. Your footing may become unsure as you travel deeper inside, and torches are a necessary aid, for the exterior world rapidly falls away into complete darkness. The bedrock is cut by several of these natural fissures, but only one was modified for use inside the castle. Much of the passageway was carefully lined with stone and the ceiling vaulted. A series of pigeon holes was built into the wall, forming a dovecote (to breed a winter food supply, or possibly to house homing pigeons).
