Kayaking in Scotland with Sea Kayak Oban - Sept. 2013, Bound2Paddle.Com
This is a short video of our sea kayaking adventure around Oban, Scotland. We 'hired' two nice sea kayaks from Sea Kayak Oban and paddled around the Sound of Kererra. Sea Kayak Oban is a wonderful shop right in the heart of Oban with convenient access to the water. We would highly recommend checking them out if you are visiting Scotland.

The Argyll Sea Kayak Trail - Sea Kayaking in Scotland
The Argyll Sea Kayak trail is 150km in length and offers some of the best sea kayaking in Europe.
More details can be found at -
The route takes in some of Scotland’s most scenic coastlines and provides both the beginner and the most experienced kayaker with a thrilling and rewarding test. Why not be one of the first to tackle the full 150 km of the trail, or pick a section or two to try over a weekend?
Running from Ganavan Sands, near Oban, to Helensburgh, the Argyll Sea Kayak Trail is split into eight sections. It hugs the stunning Argyll coast down to the Sound of Jura before cutting through Mid Argyll via the Crinan Canal, otherwise dubbed ‘Britain’s most beautiful shortcut’.
The route then leads to the south end of Loch Fyne, before skirting Inner Kintyre and around the Kyles of Bute. The final sections lead the paddler through part of the Firth of Clyde, taking in Rothesay Bay and Wemyss Bay.
Sea Kayaking is one of the very best ways to explore in depth the magnificence of the west coast of Scotland. Rich in wildlife, naturally diverse coastline, sheltered waters, islands, sandy beaches, caves and much more, offer everything you might want from a world class paddling destination.
It’s no surprise why so many people travel from across the world come to experience what Argyll and it’s islands has to offer in the way of Sea Kayaking – so don’t miss out!

GETTING MY 1⭐️ BCU KAYAKING AWARD | England, United Kingdom
This past weekend I headed to the English coast to try my hand at sea kayaking, surf-kayaking and getting my 1 Star British Canoeing Award / BCU Award! It was a fun and challenging day fighting the waves of the North Sea, but I am definitely looking forward to getting back into kayaking again soon. The course was arranged by Cullercoats Bike & Kayak in Sit-On-Top Kayaks.

Multi species fishing on this trip during the Christmas holiday period using both bait and lures. I have a great day catching six different species of fish Cod, Mackerel, Squid, Herring, Whiting, and Bull Huss. The Squid fishing was particularly good and a great way to spend the Christmas holiday out fishing and catching some fantastic fresh fish for the dinner table along with some catch and release. The video has a mix of live commentary and narration with some interaction with other anglers.

Oban Sea Kayak Race 2014
The 2014 Oban Sea Kayak Race took place on Saturday 23rd August 2014, with more than 70 paddlers taking part. Covering a distance of 20km, the race circumnavigated the beautiful and rugged Island of Kerrera, beginning and ending at Oban on Scotland’s beautiful west coast.
This is a video of the race, taken with my GoPro (or as Gus calls it my “candid camera”) mounted on the rear deck of my Valley Etáin.

Sea Kayaking Skye 2016 - Fladaigh Chuain
Well here it is, the final paddle of our fantastic Skye trip. Every year we hope and pray for a 'Big one' a trip like this, to a fantastic area to coincide with a decent spell of weather. In 2016 we really hit the jackpot with conditions just about as good as is possible in the UK. This trip will ALWAYS be one of the best, because of the fabulous Skye scenery, combined with THAT weather, it will be almost impossible to beat it. The Cornwall trip of 2013 is most certainly equal to it weather wise, it's all about the differing locations, so it's a choice between the clear turquoise waters of Cornwall, or the clear green of Skye? Or the spectacular coastline of Boscastle, Gwennap Head, Ralph's Cupboard, and Porthcurno, versus Macloed's Maidens, The Cuillins, Dunvegan Head, Spar Cave, and Neist Point? I can't decide, I think we need to do it ALL again, and see if we can decide next time?

UK Sea Kayaking
I am in an outdoor education program at SUNY Plattsburgh called Expeditionary Studies. We took a three week sea kayaking trip to the UK and paddled around Pembrokeshire and Oban. Some of us were learning the fundamentals of paddling in an ocean environment while others were leaning how to lead groups.
Sea Kayaking near Oban Tide race paddling can be hairy.AVI
A five star sea trainee finds out what happens if you don't get cleanly accross the eddy line at the Grey Dog tide race. We fished him out about 200 meters out to sea, none the worse for wear but a bit embarrased, especially about not rolling and letting go of his kayak.
Argyll Sea Kayak Trail - 150km by SUP - 12-15.05.16
On the 12th of May 2016, 3 paddlers - Allistair Swinsco of Northwest Paddleboards, Ian Cormack of SUP Ecosse, and registered blind paddler Dean Dunbar of extremedreams.co.uk and dean-talks.com – set off from Ganavan beach, north of Oban, to become the first people to stand up paddleboard, (SUP), the full 150km of the Argyll and Sea Kayak Trail.
On the 15th May, they arrived in Helensburgh, near Glasgow, mission completed!
Along the way they encountered the joys of dolphins and seals, and not so joyous strong cross and head winds, and the crazy waters of Dorus Mor. (Go 1 minute and 5 seconds into the film to see Dorus Mor.)
The challenge was thrown down to us by fellow SUPer Cathy Winterton, who came to wave us off at Ganavan, to welcome us in at Helensburgh, and join us for a short paddle near Colintraive.
An awesome trip made possible by an awesome team, including our land support team of Alison Rennie, Rhona Dunbar, and Stumpy the dog!
Thanks also go out to the great folk at Argyll and Bute Council who were extremely helpful to us.
This film was produced by Allistair Swinsco.

Discovery Islands; Surge Narrows & the Okisollo Wave
5 Days of spring tide fun, excitement and EDUCATION!
• Surge Narrows Tidal Rapids :
The Discovery Lodge is a 10 minute sea kayak paddle from Surge Narrows Tidal Rapids. Spend 2 days in this world-class training ground for new-comers to this sport and a great playground for the advanced paddler.
• The Okisollo Wave -- 2 days of delight
At maximum flood on a big tide, the first wave has a face of approximately 3 meters. While it is an awe--inspiring, even intimidating, experience for all but the best kayakers, it is breath-taking to see.
The main wave (the Okisollo Wave) is a feature about 50 feet (16 meters) wide. It is formed when water pours over a shelf at ever increasing speeds, at ever increasing depths. Current speeds range from 0 (low slack) to 13 knots at max flood on a big spring tide.
NB. To do this wave at peak flood you need to be skilled in the Eskimo Roll!

• Days 2-4:
Next morning set out on a 3 day paddle back to Tofino, either down the coast or around the Flores and Vargas islands (depending on the weather forecast and sea conditions)

The Broken group Pacific Rim Park is Canada's premier sea-kayaking destination.
