基隆 Keelung City, Taiwan | Zhongzheng Park, Miaokou Night Market, etc
Hi friends! Just a week ago, I and two of my friends decided to go and explore Keelung! Keelung City is located in the north part of Taiwan and it's just a 40 minutes bus ride from Taipei, so it’s a perfect and instant destination if you want to have a short getaway and to get stuff out of your mind. What we did was visiting places nearby, so no need to think much, just walk walk and walk because all places that we went all walkable. There were a lot of small alleys and old buildings. Keelung is also near to the sea, so highly recommend you guys to go to their sea side and enjoy your time!

A bit of this destination:
Zhongzheng (Jhongjheng) Park is situated on the side of Dashawan Mountain, which is at the east of Keelung City. There is a white statue of Goddess of Mercy in the park. This 25-meter high statue has become one of the characteristics of Keelung.
The park overlooks Keelung City and the harbor. There are three levels in the park. On the first level is a historic canon fort. On the second level is a Buddhist library, Martyrs' Shrine and Zhuputan Temple. The temple attracts many worshipers on July 15. On the third level is Guanhai Pavilion. Sitting in the pavilion, visitors can see the entire Keelung and the ocean.
The statue of Goddess of Mercy is the landmark of Zhongzheng (Jhongjheng) Park. It is the biggest Goddess statue in Southeast Asia. Inside the statue is a stairway leading to the top. Zhuputan is where worshipers gather on Zhongyuan Festival. The first immigrants to Taiwan used to fight with each other for land. In order to stop the disputes, they set up a temple for yearly worship. The temple was in Gaosha Park during the Japanese occupation and moved to Zhongzheng (Jhongjheng) Park.

Travel Vlog Adventure -Heping Island Park (keelung City,Taiwan)
Heping Island was called Sheliao Island in the past. It is located at the north of Taiwan. Heping Bridge connects the island to Keelung City. In 1626, the Spanish army built castles, churches and fortresses, preparing to do business with China and Japan. The castle on the southwest is called San Salvador, the saint savior. This is the first and currently the only castle in Keelung. During the Spanish occupation, Heping Island had busy trading activities with Southeast Asia. After World War II, the island was renamed Heping Island. Today, it is a famous tourist attraction.

Well Worth A Visit - KEELUNG CITY (WeWillNomad)
We're in Keelung City (Taiwan) for a few days and explore some of the surrounding parks and sights. Close to the Keelung port, we climb up to the Martyrs' Shrine and the nearby Zhupu Altar. In the nearby Zhongzheng Park, we climb to the top of a goddess statue and ring a HUGE bell. The Ershawan Fort grounds provide great views over Keelung harbour and we have a look at the remains of the structures and canons. From there we make our way to Heping Island and after seeing the busloads of people queuing at the entrance decided to rather enjoy the views from the harbour wall.
We enjoyed Keelung a lot and the following video will show a bit more of the well-known Night Market.

Taiwan 09 Keelung Zhongzheng Park
Taiwan is a very attractive country for people who like to travel around and see interesting places instead of laying on far away or busy beaches.
In the past my family and I only visited the main cities of Taiwan like Taipei, Keelung, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung always carrying our baggage with us.
In recent years we discovered it is more relaxed to stay a couple days in one city before going to the next city and take a local train or regional bus every day to discover smaller places and areas around the bigger cities. Public transport and taxis in Taiwan are relatively cheap compared to the rates in Europe so the daily surprise trips are affordable.
With the video series “Attractive Taiwan – Interesting places” we want to share our impressions of the surprise places we have visited in the past years which can be seen as suggestions to others when planning a holiday to Taiwan.
We hope you will enjoy watching each video.
{Hiking} Taiwan Travel -- Mt. Guanyin (觀音山)
Mt. Guanyin is the mountain you can see from the town of Tamsui on the other side of Tamsui River. It's a steep climb over hundreds of stone steps, but from the peak you have awesome views.

Mt. Guanyin is one of the scenic highlights you’ll see on the way to the port town of Tamsui from central Taipei. Situated on the opposite side of the Tamsui River, the mountain resembles Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, lying down. There are numerous trails on the mountain, ranging in difficulty from easy but steep to steep and challenging. The views from the peaks are magnificent, and there is also a very special tiny temple in a narrow cave to be explored.
That fine profile is one of the main reasons why Mt. Guanyin is such a popular hiking spot in the Taipei area. There are several ways to the top of the highest of its various summits, known as Yinghan (“Tough Man”) Peak because the Japanese military used the trail for fitness training during the 1895~1945 Japanese occupation period. The most popular route is the relatively easy one from the southwest, beginning at Lingyun Zen Temple, which sits in a beautiful spot, backed by the sheer cliff face of an outlying peak. Below lies the much smaller Lingyun Temple, a pretty and very photogenic place of worship.
After arriving at Lingyun Temple bus stop, walk uphill, following the signs, to the Lingyun Zen Temple complex. After exploring the temple and enjoying the magnificent view, walk past the front of the main prayer hall and through the temple grounds and car park, to reach the adjoining road. The signposted, stepped trail that leaves the road here, on the right, is the path to Mt. Guanyin’s highest summit.
Winding up the wooded hillside, the first section of the climb is quite steep, so proceed slowly. Turn right at a “T” junction reached after about half an hour. From here the gradient becomes a bit more gradual as the trail gains the main ridgeline and follows its rolling curves, and there are views at intervals through the trees over the Taipei Basin and ahead to Yinghan Peak.
After about 20 minutes of hiking from the “T” junction, you come upon a trail crossroads just below the summit. Turn right up the stone steps and walk for a couple of minutes to reach the main Mt. Guanyin summit (616m). The view from the peak is tremendous, and you can see Yangmingshan on the opposite site, the whole of Taipei City laid out far in the distance to the right, and Tamsui and the mouth of the Tamsui River to the left.
To descend the mountain, you have several choices. One is to retrace your steps to the crossroads just below the summit, and then to follow the stepped trail on the right, which descends the eastern side of the mountain. After meeting a narrow lane after about 30 minutes walking, turn left and follow the lane downhill through a cemetery and orange orchards until you reach the highway (No. 15) that follows the west bank of the Tamsui River.
Cross the busy highway with care, and walk to the bicycle path that runs parallel and right beside the river. Turn left and follow the path (north) for about 20 minutes, to the Bali Ferry Pier. For a fare of just NT$23 (get your ticket at the ticket booth behind the pier before joining the queue, or swipe your EasyCard before boarding the ferry), you can take the little ferry across the river to Tamsui. There are services every 15 minutes or so. Don’t forget to look back at the towering bulk of Mt. Guanyin while crossing the river, or, even better, spend an hour or two exploring the promenade at Bali Left Bank before boarding the ferry in time to see the famous Tamsui sunset (weather permitting), which looks especially great from the deck of the boat. The ferry docks right in the heart of old Tamsui, 10 minutes from MRT Tamsui Station.

Taipei Travel Guide - Beautiful Taiwan
Taipei Travel Guide - Beautiful Taiwan
Taipei is the national capital of Taiwan. It is in the northern part of the island in a basin between the Yangming Mountains and the Central Mountains. It is, with 2.6 million inhabitants, the fourth largest administrative area of Taiwan, after New Taipei, Kaohsiung and Taichung. However, the Greater Taipei metropolitan area, which encompasses the central Taipei City along with the surrounding New Taipei City and Keelung, represents the largest urban cluster in Taiwan with nearly 7 million people.
Taipei City administers twelve districts :
Wanhua (萬華區)
Wanhua is the oldest district of Taipei, home to many historic buildings, such as the Longshan Temple and the Red House Theater. Ximending is the harajuku of Taipei, a shopping neighbourhood centred around teenager fashion, Japanese culture and subcultures.
Datong (大同區)
Datong is one of the oldest inhabited areas in what is now Taipei. It used to be the city's commercial centre, but has lost relevance as the economic centre shifted southeast to Zhongzheng, Daan and Xinyi. It is now most known for Dihua Street with its Japanese colonial and Qing dynasty architecture and Chinese herbal and dry goods shops.
Zhongzheng (中正區)
The political center of Taiwan and the location of the Presidential Office and important government ministries. Its prime tourist attractions is the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
Zhongshan (中山區)
Zhongshan has riverside parks, the Martyrs Shrine, the Fine Arts Museum.
Daan (大安區)
Daan is a modern commercial district. The northern part of Daan is known as Taipei's East District, offering department stores, plenty of fashion boutiques, lounge bars, and atmospheric restaurants and some of the most expensive real estate in the city. The southern part of Daan is home to National Taiwan University and National Taiwan Normal University.
Xinyi (信義區)
Xinyi is the modern financial district of Taipei and home to the Taipei 101, the World Trade Center and the International Convention Center. It is the newest part of the city with many shopping malls.
Songshan (松山區)
Many firms and financial institutions in this neighbourhood, which is directly north of the East District. Raohe Street Night Market is one of the oldest of Taipei's famous street markets.
Beitou (北投區)
This district is famous for hot springs and the Yangmingshan National Park.
Shilin (士林區)
A traditional area of the city that is known for its excellent museums, including the world famous National Palace Museum. Shilin is also home to one of Taipei's largest nightmarket and the expat enclave of Tianmu.
Neihu (內湖區)
Located in the north-east of the city, Neihu is a hub of IT industry in Taipei, home to many large shopping centers, and a great place for hiking and 'templing'. A mouth-watering juxtaposition of local Taiwanese culture and modern shopping malls and restraunts. A definite must-visit, Neihu is largely a secret to the tourist world, unfortunately.
Nangang (南港區)
Neighboring Neihu, this district is known for its IT industrial complexes and is also home to one of Taiwan's leading academic institution - Academia Sinica.
Wenshan (文山區)
This district comprises the two traditional districts of Muzha and Jingmei. It is in the south of the city and associated with its many tea plantations and also for being the location of Taipei Zoo.

Keelung Drone Flight: Keelung (Standard Mandarin Pīnyīn: Jīlóng; Hokkien POJ: Ke-lâng), officially known as Keelung City, is a major port city situated in the northeastern part of Taiwan. It borders New Taipei with which it forms the Taipei–Keelung metropolitan area, along with Taipei itself. Nicknamed the Rainy Port for its frequent rain and maritime role, the city is Taiwans second largest seaport (after Kaohsiung). // Keelung City is a port city near Taipei, in northern Taiwan. Surrounded by mountains, its known for its sheltered harbor. Near the waterfront, street-food stalls at Miaokou Night Market offer traditional snacks and seafood. Several forts around the area include hilltop Ershawan Fort, with cannons and a Chinese-style gate. Both Gongzi Liao Fort and Dawulun Fort offer views over the harbor and ocean. Connected to the mainland by a bridge, Hoping Island (Peace Island) is known for its unusual cliffs and moonlike rock formations. Views from the island stretch out to the steep green slopes of volcanic Keelung Islet. Back on the mainland, Zhongzheng Park is home to the huge Goddess of Mercy and Maitreya Buddha statues, as well as several shrines and garden paths. Northwest of the center, the mountainous Lovers Lake Park has woodlands, a suspension bridge over the lake and views over the surrounding countryside. [wikipedia // Google]
