An impressive torii gate greets visitors to the Kehi-jingu Shrine, an iconic symbol of Tsuruga city. Originally built in 702 A.D
With over 70 establishments, this thriving local seafood market, which translates to Sea of Japan's Fish City, sells product fresh from the Sea of Japan. Sakana Machi has been bringing in daily fresh seafood from Tsuruga Port since 1994.

Kehi-jingu Shrine in Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture used to be an important place in traffic in ancient times. Kehi-jingu Shrine has been the chief guardian shrine of Hokuriku-do Road, and known and described as Echizen-no-Kuni Ichinomiya since long time ago.
Kehi-jingu Shrine has been worshiped especially as the god that protects marine traffic, farming and fishing. The grand gate of Kehi-jingu Shrine is one of the three largest grand gates along with the gates of Itsukushima-jinja Shrine and Kasuga-taisha Shrine.The major renovation of the grand gate that is the national important cultural property was finished in the end of 2017. Now, visitors can see the superb grand gate that it once was.

Johgu Shrine 常宮神社, the lower shrine of Kehi Jingu 気比神宮, is located in the middle of Tsuruga Peninsula. It is famous for the bell 1300 years old came from Silla (Korea) 新羅(朝鮮), which is designated as a national treasure.
敦賀半島の中ほどに位置する常宮神社(じょうぐうじんじゃ)。氣比神宮の下社とされています。主祭神は、天八百萬比咩命(アメノヤオヨロズヒメ)＝常宮大神。これは神功皇后とされています。日本の奈良時代とされる、1300年前の朝鮮・新羅鐘は現在公開中止中でした

Visiting the places in Tsuruga connected to Kojiki and Nihon-shoki [PR for Fukui]
Kojiki is the oldest Japanese history book which has been handed down to the modern period. Nihon-shoki is the official oldest chronicles of Japan.
This year marks the 1300th year since the completion of the Kojiki. and 2020 will be the 1300th year since the completion of the Nihon-shoki.
Fukui Prefecture introduces the places including shrines and historic sites which were written in Kojiki and Nihon-shoki for people from Fukui and other prefectures to visit them.

The large dark-red Torri is an important cultural asset (was used to be registered as a natinal treasure), whose structure is RYOBE style as same as Kasuga Taisha 春日大社 or Itsukushima Shrine 厳島神社.
福井県敦賀市、北陸道の総鎮守、1300年の歴史がある「氣比神宮」(けひじんぐう)、通称けいさん。朱色に輝く両部鳥居は、春日大社・厳島神社と並んで、日本三大木造鳥居に数えられる。主祭神は、伊奢沙別命(イザサワケノミコト、気比大神)。
